The Bone Clocks - David Mitchell

Got this for Christmas off my favourite aunt. It's taken me a few goes to finish it, I have to admit. Some breaks were for legitimate reasons (it's a fat book), others were because it is just OK. Engaging enough but not gripping. I'm going to be a bit blasphemous and say I don't really like David Mitchell, other than Cloud Atlas. He writes well but I find him a bit dull.

I've promised to lend this to someone already, but if anyone wants it they can have it as I'm clearing my bookshelves and I don't really want to read it again.

Wool - Hugh Howey

Holiday read and I really enjoyed it. Usually these big fat dystopian fictions get dull after a bit, but this was well structured and therefore quite gripping. I've not read a lot of these sorts of books (because boring - see above) but this one seemed a bit different. There are other related books in the series so I'll read them eventually.

Wouldn't buy it (it's a library loan) as I don't read these sorts of books more than once but I'd recommend it, especially for a quick holiday binge-read.
