Thought for the day...
Aug. 28th, 2003 09:52 pmAs I sit here trying to write an essay on the effects of time on news stories, a sudden thought comes to me. Why did I bother going to University to do a degree at all? Why didn't I just become a puffin warden on Lundy Island and do a far more fun OU degree? I'd have got to live in the wilds and study easier, more fun courses on linguistics and evolutionary statistics. Then on the other hand, would I have ever had that idea if I hadn't done a chemistry degree at a green-wellies university and ended up working as a data analyst? Hmmm.
And just to prove that that wibble isn't the worst thing I've written today, quote from my essay:
So we can see from this last point that skilfull journalist skeleton obviously uses the effect of time on news is not only fleshed out but also use of language.
I'm sure that made sense as I was typing it *sighs*
22:10 Well, I've finally done the main bulk of the work on my essay (1600 words!). I've also outlined my conclusion and found a very nifty, if somewhat self-conciously flash, way of bringing it all together and concluding it. And what's more, I've also discovered that a round trip of London/Athens/Istanbul/Tunis next May will cost £650 in air fares. Hmmm... that could be neatly covered by my pay-rise...
