Back in the world of work..

I've essentially been off all week. Two days sick, one day part-time, one meeting in Brum. Really didn't want to come in this morning, so I think all the time off has been feeding into a (un)healthy bout of depression and work-related avoidance. However, Ninneviane and Jo_Kat are coming to tea :)) Also, depression and avoidance aren't nearly as bad when I actually get here, although stress and concentration issues tend to appear. I think I have to bite the bullet and see my GP. Thing to annoy me today - people that write their annual leave in their Outlook Calendar, with the destination next to it. Are they showing off, or just too stupid to remember where they're going on holiday? Heh - or more just desperate to prove they have a life, round this place :P Spent Wednesday in London. Wandered around Kew Gardens, which are really lovely, even in bitter wind. I saw the orchid exhibition, and the Palm House, which was my particular favourite due to the high level walkway. I'd never been there before - it's really neat. Managed to miss the opening times at Highgate Cemetery by about 2 minutes (bloody gate-keeper... *grumble*). Went to choral evensong at St Paul's, which was really cool, ate curry buffet for £3, then walked around the embankment, across the "28 Days Later" bridge, then headed home. I never thought I'd get fed up of snow, but today I finally have. It's cold and it never settles. Yesterday I had to go to Brum for a meeting, and completely froze my backside off. Bah!

Hrmm, I don't even write my leave time into outlook since I normally figure out I'm taking time off like a week before I do... I definitely wouldn't put my destinations into outlook though. Other people could see that and it's none of their business what I'm doing.

Exactly! I value my privacy slightly more than the kudos attached to my holiday destination :P

Did you make sure to retrieve it before you left Brum? If not, I can send the gnomes to go fetch.

I should have paid more attention!

She's complaining about snow??? Shoot, I had my air conditioner on for a week before having to turn it back to heat last night... We're complaining it's cold here and it's like 60 F.

It's very kind of you to offer to send in the gnomes to help find her backside. Do they need any elf magic to help them out? I could turn one of them into a backside sniffing bloodhound or something...

Hmm. My dad had a crotch sniffing golden retriever. But he would probably have eaten the gnomes, even without re-training to backside seeking specialities.

I'm not even sure how hot 60F is...

Nah - by the time I found it, some kids were using it as a skate-ramp :P

Ooh, curries and orchids. I'm living with corn tortillas and cacti, so it all sounds sort of exotic to me. (And very little cold, and lots of snowbirds, but that's a whole other thing). I wonder how many of the Outlook destinations are even real, or if someone's gotten clever enough to realise they can fake the same thing.

Heh - probably is fake. I'm sure I read somewhere about a "fake holiday" service, where you could get photos and postcards sent to your friends and stuff like that.
