Bloody work tomorrow, with a couple of crappy weeks to get through. Oh well,
Alton Towers was brilliant! Normally I drive up and back in the same day, but I got treated to a night at the Splash Landings Hotel. Which also means I got access to their water park, which is all covered up, and full of flumes and water jets and whirlpools. So, 24 hours hours of pure tacky, childish decadent fun! But a note to my women LJ-buddies - make sure you wear a well-fitting swimsuit before you stand under the main water jet. Baggy swimsuit = embarrassment *blush*. So after we got there, we headed straight over to the park and went on nemesis, which was a first for me. To tell you the truth, I was absolutely cacking myself in the queue, but it wasn't that bad when I was on it. Also did Oblivion, the Corkscrew, water rapids, Hex (my fave :D) and the Runaway Mine Train, then headed back to the water park.
I think I enjoyed one of my purest moments of bliss paddling around that water park, swimming under the fountains just as a blaze of sunset hit the roof, and shone through all the sparkling water. Went on all the slides, swam round and round the rapids and just basked in the whole feeling of being a mermaid :) Had dinner and a pint of guinness, enjoying the childish combination of roast potatoes, pizza AND onion bhaji. Then slept like a log.
Went in the water park again after breakfast. Swimming in a heated outdoor pool at 9 AM on a British April morning is a strange form of pleasure, but enjoyable nonetheless. Whizzed around the park again, taking in Hex (again *ahem*), the revamped log flume and Air. Absolute bloody bliss!
Oh, and today I went to see Zatoichi, which was really good. The soundtrack was brilliant, especially where it was choreographed with people working in the fields. Now I'm off to watch Matrix Revolutions (birthday present to myself), before crashing out.
Zzz. Busy. Was going to write a thoughtful post about my "new year" resolutions, but too damn tired :)

Glad you had a blast - Splash Landings Hotel sounds awesome. I love doing summer things when it's cold outside. *makes note to self for next cross-atlantic trip to include amusement parks* I usually travel in the winter so there isn't much open - must remedy that situation in the future.
Also since I haven't said it anywhere else where birthdays were mentioned - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope this year is a good one for you - sounds like it is off to a good start :)
