Good news!

My mum's been offered a council flat back near her home town! She has to go and view it on Tuesday, but IMO, unless it's appalling, it has to be better than the shitty flat in Easton that she's gotright now. If she accepts it (and she'd better had ;)), that'll be a really amazing result for about 6 months of hard, hard work and stress.

If I was athletically capable of it, I'd be doing triple backflips right now *beam*

No idea what some of that meant, but sounds like you're mom is getting a better place to live. Glad to hear it! Always good when someone you know gets a better home.

Heh - should do a UK2US babelfish. My mom got a new apartment - she's in government housing, and it's a total bitch to get a transfer to anywhere decent. The place she's in is dangerous, dark, mouldy and full of freaks (and believe me, I don't use that term lightly). So I'm glad she might get moved :)

Ah, so I was mostly right. Well that's cool then. Dark and dank places are not good to live in (unless your fungus anyway).

That would be very cool, although "government housing" just sounds weird. Over here that basically means homeless shelters where you might be able to find a mat on the ground available...

It's strange. I have pretty good balance, and until several years ago I was very flexible (bad joints catching up to me). Never could do cartwheels. I tried, just could never get it. I could walk on my hands, etc, just no cartwheels...

Ah - over here, every local council owns and/or manages a chunk of housing for low-income households. Unfortunately, the housing prices in about 60% of the country (everywhere from the Midlands southwards) have sky-rocketed, so getting a council house is competitive. You need to have a lot of points for various social needs, and the person with the most points is nominated for the next vacancy. For example, mom had about 100 points, mostly for mental health needs and harassment in her current housing. And I've had to argue hard for pretty much every one of those points - mucho stress for an introvert :(
