EDIT - this just looks fun and something I'd like to do for people over the year - don't be shy or feel greedy if you respond! :))

The first five(ish) people to comment here will get something made by me. I've screened comments so you can leave your postal address (and also so I can make 5ish as 5+ as I feel like ;))

- Hopefully you'll like what I make (but I make no guarantee that you will).
- If you want to request something for someone else, then fire away, but I reserve the right to say no.
- It will be done before December 31st, 2010.
- It could be anything: something baked, something knitted, something sewn, something shiny, something written...

Spread the love, in return, re-post this somewhere and offer to make 5 things for 5 other people.

Let me know a few details about your own interests, fave colors, fave themes, etc. so that I can make your gift as personal as possible. If you don't, well, the results could be random! Although I do reserve the right to just be pure random anyway.

Not-jobs

I saw a job I could apply for online today. Looked interesting and achievable (database manager for the HIV team in my local NHS). But you know what? I just can't be arsed to apply. I know I haven't applied for that many jobs, but all those I have applied for, I've not got. I've been second choice every time with feedback along the lines of you were good, but someone else was just better. I guess I don't interview too well.

The other reason is that it's 15 hours a week and I just can't be going through the ins-and-outs of trying to arrange childcare for that. It just ain't worth trying unless the job is worth my putting the offspring into nursery for, and what job is worth that?

Monty Don's personal assistant with unlimited access to cake, gin and recreational substances of my choice?

Probably that. But probably if I'm honest I'm just not career motivated enough to keep on trying to go there, even for jobs which, like this one, look quite interesting. I'm tired of trying to justify what I consider my realistic and pragmatic attitude towards work in general to try and inspire people (including myself) to get on my side.

More cheerfully, though, the gardening work is really taking off. The lady I garden for has suggested two more clients for me. Now I just need to get motivated to phone them up and sort it out :)

In other news, my note to self is that I need to do some head-work on a few issues.

Looks interesting, although I haven't read it fully. Very conscious that I haven't done my meme blogs... :/

I'm doing ok. Juggling 5 jobs, a garden overhaul, an IT course and a small child, but generally positive. Life is good.

More like goals for the rest of the year than goals for the month - I'd like to reduce my 5k time to 30 mins (currently 34:39) and lose a stone. The two will probably combine quite nicely. I'm quite happy with my weight, actually, but I have a wedding coming up - wedding = pics, and I'd like to look my best. It's a nice position to be in, to actually like my physical appearance. Yay for exercise :)

Not a lot else to say. I'm going on a yoga workshop at the end of the month. I'm also going to Greece for a week. Hellboy 2 was much better than I expected. Hostel was much worse. I would like to do two trips with the boy down to Devon, so fingers crossed for the weather.

Like I said, life is good :)

Mostly I don't even think about my ex. Until I find the cracks in the ceiling are at least partly caused by a huge roll of vile industrial carpet squirelled away in the loft. Natural Born Killers-style visions of my repeatedly kneeing him in the face yelling "who's the hoarder now, motherfucker" occasionally play across my mind's eye.

I'm having teh mega clearout, literally and emotionally. It's a good thing. My brother's worrying me - he had a massive freakout at me on the phone, and has decided (with lots of "encouragement") that the best way for him and Emily to really bond is to just spend all their time together. Every non-working waking moment, nobody else. They've not had any company for well over a month now, and spend their spare time getting drunk and bickering. None of my business, but oh-so-like a certain pair of parents we both share.

Anyway, have some long term goals:

- Clear out my room by the end of August
- Clear out my shed and greenhouse by the end of July
- finish my BTEC web course by the end of November
- Take my RHS course in February 2009
- apply for some new jobs by the end of January 2009

(1) Eat healthily for the majority of the time. Wholemeal toast, salad and yoghurt in the day, and many less snacks
(2) Start running again during my February holiday. Do the Race for Life, then a 10k in the Autumn
(3) Go to yoga class once a week
(4) Stretch out after exercise
(5) Totally quit smoking when I go back to work in May. "One or two" always ends up as "five or six"
(6) Organise a wedding and a marriage. Without losing my marbles or killing anyone.
(7) Get a tattoo of the Maes Howe dragon.
(8) Keep my allotment together all year
(9) Finish my RHS course.
(10)Get a new job. One that I don't hate. For one day a week, ideally in Stroud.

Well, that's Christmas over, and a fine one it was too. Christmas Day was spent burying Ben in toys and wrapping paper, then family visits Boxing Day and the 27th. All good, despite last minute ass-fiddling by my brother about Boxing Day arrangements. That's a post in itself that I'm going to leave for another day.

Today I'm mostly building a raised bed in my garden with the help of my spangly new utility knife. In other tool news (not related to my sibling :P) I got a wicked garden shredder for Christmas. Shred-tastic.

New Year's resolutions:

The super get fit one. I really want to lose some weight and get fitter. Mostly for Ben's sake now - I think he's going to be an energetic child, and I don't want him to be the kid with the fat mom when he gets to go to school. So, now he's less reliant on my body for nourishment, I'm going on a diet. And I'll keep going to yoga at least once a week, and start running again in the spring.

Organise a wedding. Without losing my marbles or killing anyone.

Get a tattoo of the Maes Howe dragon.

Finish my RHS course.

Get a new job. One that I don't hate.

I'll fine them up later - have tea to drink and things to staple. Happy New Year to y'all :)))
