Backwards and forwards
May. 20th, 2005 10:50 amI had two days off - my normal day off, and an extra day of leave. I stayed over at my aunt's where I lived for a few crisis months last summer. I really enjoyed staying there again. There's a skylight, books, lots of pretty plants.
I went to see my aunt, who's just feeling slightly better after her first bout of chemo. There are roses in her cheeks. OK, she has to have five more, but at least she's through one.
I went to see my maternal grandma, too. I haven't really seen her since I was abotu twenty. It's weird - their house hasn't changed one iota since I was little. There's still a mark on the door showing how tall I was in 1985. She's doing OK, given that she's lost her husband.
I went to see my paternal grandad, and he's good too. Many family visits. I feel all caught up now.
One thing I did do was clear abot 5 large cardboard boxes of my parents' stuff out of my aunt's attic. Records, books, photos. I bagged quite a lot of the photos, actually. Loads of my dad when he was little, and of his family. Lots of me and my brother. I'm quite attached to my bro these days, and we looked so cute as kids. And lots of B&W ones that my dad took.
I guess that's where I get it from. I never really realised that before. Weird, how I'm only recently noticing what parts of me come from my dad. I think it must be part of the process.
I'm going to the Bristol Arts Trail on Sunday, meeting a good friend and watching
0ct0pus in musical action. Maybe next year I can put some of my stuff on the Arts Trail. That'd be pretty neat.
I'm also gaming with my ex. Project Zero. First time I've looked forward to hanging out with him for ages.
And I went to see the Eels last night, and they were beautiful. Played all my favourites, and so twinkly and sweet. And then they played an extra song at the end, when most people were gone, and I got to stand really near the stage :)
0ct0pus reviews it rather well here.
And next week, I have a week or more holiday in Wales.
So life is pretty damn good right now.
