Ow. I had forgotten about Knitty. Was going to make the Klein bottle hat...

Did you see the little womb doll?!

Isn't it cute? I want to make so many things off that site, but I'm not sure about how to replace the wools with European ones.

I want a small child in my vicinity to make that doll for!

*scratches head*
I suppose I will have to ask the batty old girls in my local crafts shoppe. Woe. Looong geeky yarn conversations with those ladies are exhausting.

Some of the yarn on EBay comes with length/weight statistics. Let me know if you come up with any conversions, though - I'm too much of a knitting newbie to cope with that!

Hey, I'm a newbie too. Well, I've never made anything challenging, that is. Since I'm in Norway and only know Norwegian yarn, I won't be of any help at all to you, I'm afraid.

Maybe it's time to go looking for knitting communities. Non-US-centered.

Aha - how did you find that out? There are loads of proprietary names for wool types there that I can't find any equivalent of.

I think I web searched and eventually found a reference page.

I used to love Knitty, when i first learned to knit. These days, most of the new patterns are pretty boring. Or maybe that's just because I don't have babies to be knitting for.
