Bleh - I'm back at work and I am SO bored. I didn't sleep much last night (had one of those feverish and fidgety nights) and it's really cold in here. Or maybe I'm just coming down with something. Hopefully whatever virus I'm getting will give me an excuse not to go to my brother's house on New Year's Eve :p I already said that I wasn't keen, so he laid on the guilt about how important it was to him to spend the evening with family. Then as soon as I agreed, he was like - OK, I'm going to invite Mike, Carla, Jess and Sam too... hope you don't mind. Which I don't, except I was guilt-tripped into going along on the grounds that it should be a family evening. *BIG sigh*

Also, my legs ache from hiking 10 miles yesterday. That's fairly pathetic, so I'm going to make one resolution in 2004 to train myself back up to an effortless 15-20 miles in a day. I probably won't make any more resolutions, so much as a bit of analysis and some "lifestyle changes".

And did I say it was cold already?

Brrr...

I always thought New Years was about getting drunk and planting a sloppy drunk wet kiss on someone you never saw before in your life... At least that's what people tell me. Not that I've ever done that... No way I'd ever get drunk. Nope, not a chance....

Hrmm. I'm so out of shape my legs hurt if I walk more than 5, and you want to get back to 15-20 in a day? Well, shouldn't say too much. At one point 5 or 6 years ago I was walking 20 miles a day because I was bored and it was too hot to sleep unless you wore yourself out. (It's bad when its 90 degrees at midnight).

Anyway, sorry to hear I'm not the only one that had a rought night. Hope you get to feeling better!

Oh yeah, one more thing. Never give in to guilt trips, it just encourages them. That's what my mom taught me! (She was one of the best at laying down the trips. She taught me how to recognize it and how to avoid the trap!)

Yeah, or at least I want to be able to do that much whenever I want without being in as much pain as I am today after a 10-mile hike. I don't want to be super-slim and massively fit, just a bit more flexibility and stamina.

Hope you get to feeling better!

Thanks - I had some decent lunch and a pot of coffee, and I think I might get through the day.

Mmm - like paying the Danes gold. I know I shouldn't give in, but I just do. I'm a bit crap at saying "no" to people - it's going to be one of my "lifestyle changes" in the New Year.

Yes, you did ;)

It must have been a bad night all round, last night. I didn't make it into work this morning, whoops and aiee :/

My legs are throbbing but I havn't walked anywhere!

Apparently I was twitching like mad in my sleep though, this last couple of nights so that may be it.

Did I say, I don't like christmas?

New Year, however... a time for much fun & frolics :)

Flexibility and stamina is always good. I wouldn't mind hiking myself, I just don't like the idea of having to drive to get to a spot I'd enjoy enough to hike around in. Especially if I'd be hiking alone.

I'm a bit crap at saying "no" to people

Good idea. I need to learn how to be nice when I say no *grin*

Yeah - I hate that too. It's kind of self-defeating, isn't it? Luckily I can walk or get a bus to fairly nice places, so I don't have to join the queues of 4x4s in every country car-park.
