London - the good, the bad, and the ugly
Jul. 22nd, 2005 02:37 pmI've just been in London for two days. It's a beautiful city, with lots going on, different and well mixed communities, and lovely to look at (in places). As a non-social person, I'd rather visit than inhabit, but I'm glad it's there.
I got high on the buzz of a busy summer city.
I loved the Arts and Crafts exhibition at the V&A, sitting in the park, people-watching and looking at the sun flicker through the stonework on the museum roof.
I like that I can get any food I want any time of day, and there are so many different people.
I dislike the tube. I'm small, introverted and sensitive, so it's not really my thing, despite its efficiency.
I hated the constant wail of sirens, and the feeling of nauseous oppression when the bombs had gone off.
The panic, fear and hatred makes me ill.
