Everything is done before I go on leave in...(checks)... 39 minutes. Thought that wasn't going to happen due to last minute Excel modelling glitches, but it's all done and I can go away with a clear conscience :)

Had a funny dream last night where I went round to visit [livejournal.com profile] ninneviane and [livejournal.com profile] jo_kat. Nothing special happened - just normal "visiting and drinking tea" type stuff, but it amused me *waves*

Now I'm in a generally good mood - I have a week's leave and I made a good decision with regards to my OU course. As I've made a resolution to get up before midday at least some of the time that I'm on holiday, I think I might attack the garden tomorrow and plant the rest of my bulbs :)

(checks time)...34 minutes!!

Bulbs? In January? Will they really flower this year if planted now? Or am I still thinking in terms of Swedish climate here?

The good thing about the server crashes was that I got time to do a German OU course exercise in my LJ. *happy*

Bulbs? In January?

I know around here there are several plants that need to be planted in January in order to bloom when flowers are suppsed to bloom. Obviously by now its not going to freeze again this year (heck, only froze once this year and normally on 3 times) as well.

Of course, I'm in a much warmer climate than the mule lady here...

Very true - Im not sure Texan planting rules apply. But thanks anyway - [livejournal.com profile] apel is gardening guru to me, but I think I'll just bung them in the ground and see what happens.

Considering we have legislation that all major landscaping items have to be "drought tolerant". That means you get fined $200 if you have more than a couple water sucking plants.... Prolly not too terribly good idea to pay attention to the way Texas does its plants *grin*

Hmm... I'm not sure when bulbs should be planted, to be honest. These were bargain bulbs that are reaching their sell-by date, so I was kind of banking on it being better to get them in the ground than to leave them. I'm not sure though :/

I saw your German - very impressive! :D I'm so looking forward to starting my new course...

I have it on quite good authority that bulbs are just fine to be planted before/during winter. Of course, this other person ran into trouble with squirrels and moose feeding in fall, so your milage may vary ;)

Heheh - thanks, I think ;/ I'm just going to plant them - I'll only lose them or let them go mouldy otherwise :)
