Finally I get around to booking the plane ticket. I will be flying in to Toronto on the 3 July and flying back out on the 12th.

If anyone would like to join me for any part of that (I aim to split myself between Toronto and Montreal), you'll be more than welcome.

Comment or drop me a line via email.

Oh - and any hints/tips such as rail cards, good places to go or bargain tickets would be much appreciated :)

Wow, great news! :D

As for the train, the passenger railway is Via: http://viarail.ca/

As for things to do, I'm gonna need to look into things, and there's probably a ton of stuff I don't even know about - especially during the height of summer I'm sure there's all sorts of festivals and stuff. ( toronto.com is probably a good place to browse around).

What sort of stuff would you be interested in seeing? If you like museums and art galleries, there's the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario, as well as some more off-centre stuff, like the Bata shoe museum. A lot people like to go up to the observation deck of the CN Tower (world's larges freestanding structure), but to be honest the waits can be long and I guess it depends on how much you like going up in towers - in summer it'll probably be kind of hazy too. Clubs and live music can be interesting, depending on what's going on at the time. I don't know where you are on the goth-scale exactly, but you could always have a look at torontogoth.com. Though there's not a ton to 'see' there, the islands are nice place to chill out and relax and get away from the buzz of the city - there little village there, with only sidewalks between all the homes, is also quite neat to see.

Anyway, yeah a lot of possibilities, and that's just off the top of my head...what did you have in mind?

Road trip!!!

I'll see what I can do - would love to see you while you're on this side of the pond! (and everyone else, of course...) I'll have to try to do some juggling of some other obligations, but I think it may be manageable. I'll write when I know for sure, that is, if you wouldn't mind me along for a day or so?

Marvellous! It would be great if you did come, so let me know if you can juggle. And don't worry - if I hadn't wanted you, I'd have hidden the post ;)

Looking forward to hearing from you soon :)

Via?!?!

The local bus system down here in SA, TX is Via, and they are the worst public transportation company I've ever seen. The run their routes in a grid so it takes like 7 busses to get anywhere, but they only allow you one transfer on each paid use, and they are up to like 1.50 fare (so to get anywhere takes you like 8 bucks, and often you can get a cab less than that). Plus they changed a token portion of their fleet to environmental friendly but refuse to do the rest unless the city pays for it.

Um, I'm pretty sure it's 2 different companies with the same name. I highly doubt the Canadian national passenger railway, which is a crown corporation (owned by the government) would be running a municipal bus system in San Antonio...unless it's just to annoy you ;)

guess who???

Hey there - figured this entry would be a good lead in - oh, it's dylan, btw. As I said a bit ago, my situation is not looking good for vacation come July. I'm poor. very poor. still. lol It really sucks too, cos I think it would be hella fun to visit with all you. Ah well. Maybe some time in the hopefully no too distant future I will be settled in some direction other than aimless.

No doubt their different companies, just thought it was quite odd and possibly disturbing. Figure I'm not gonna try that railway just due to name association though...

Center Island and the ferries are fun, especially if you've got someone younger with you. The islands are definitely cool, though I haven't been to them recently. The Green Room has very good avocado sandwiches. And I know there are goth shops (no idea of the names at this point), and the slightly infamous Come As You Are. It's basically what it sounds like.

I can juggle, but only 3 balls and not very well. I have a tendency to make the balls land on my head, which isn't very comfortable considering I learned with croquet balls...

Needless to say I can't make it, but it sure sounds like fun.

aye ... or it could be some form of self-delusion ... I think I'm deluding myself either way, really. so why not choose the one with the slightest bit of hope??? That's not rhetorical, I really dont know the answer to that. ;)

It'a a sex shop, but a very unintimidating one. I guess I just hang out with people who are fond of making references to that sort of thing.

Hello Dylan. Thought it might be you - the "chrst" gave it away a bit. I've slowly been reading back through your LJ, and there are some great entries :)

I'm sorry you can't make it, though. Maybe some time soon? I'm sure I'll be back across the Atlantic one day, and you'll be more settled. No really, you will ;)

You sound about as good at juggling as I am :) And sorry you can't make it. I'm hoping one day in the not too distant future, I'll make it over to the States again and maybe catch up with you and Mr Karrot.

Oh boy - the knots I get myself into with the concept of self-delusion... *shakes head*

You're right - just go for the one that makes you happiest.

*chuckle* Actually I probably could, but I don't want to take that much time off of work and I cerntainly don't want to drive the what, 2000 miles to get up to Canada (although Canada is a beautiful place, well at least BC was).

You just need to take a trip down to the SW area (SW being AZ, NM, OK, TX, CO, and sometimes includes Louisianna and Arkansas). Maybe someday. Trips are too expensive to take frequently.

I quite fancy Colorado, so maybe the SW is next. Although I manage big trips at the rate of about 1 every two years, so don't hold your breath :)

hehe ... hopefully one day.

i will be eager to hear about the stories and see the pictures. (yes, in case you didn't know, you're going to take pictures and have plenty of crazy stories :)

oh, and about the "chrst" - yeah, I get that a lot - that, and, "you know, I figured you'd be taller - being the son of god and all"

lol - sorry to be predictable :P I didn't think of the chrst/christ thing until I saw your LJ name though :)

Pictures? Crazy stories? All sounds a bit extraverted to me :)

hehe ... maybe I should have put a winker smile ;) or a j/k afterward, so as to imply facetiousness. alas, no one has ever confused me with the son of god.

and the extraversion thing - oh, it's easy, just get rip-roaring trashed and you'll be running around like a baffoon in no time ... unless that's just something I do ... hmm. on second thought...

Okay, Ive emailed you at two addresses, so one should reach you...not that I'm suddenly bored or anything, or looking forward to a long road trip to get away from the house... nope, nothing like that :D

That all sounds great :) I'm going to get a guide book, and also consult with [livejournal.com profile] zleetle. I think the Islands definitely sound good. Need some peaceful retreat.

Cool. Yeah, you two figure out what you want to do, and I think I'm pretty much open to tag along anywhere. And then when you're sick of me you can just leave me wherever and there's a good chance I'll find my way home ;)

Heheh. I was referring to the slightly trashed hysterics. But never mind - I can handle "informative". Far better than just plain embarrassing :)
