Normally the huge welter of spam that plops into my ISP account is completely pointless. Most of it offers me access to things I can generally look at for free, and the rest is just plain incomprehensible. But today I actually got a good 'un, one that managed to grab my attention in the whole "hit delete 58 times without even looking" ritual:

How to become a minister in 48 hours

For only $29.95, not only do you get a rather splendiferous sounding certificate, but you also get dispensation to marry close relatives AND you can visit correctional facilities!

Actually, maybe, on reflection, this isn't so different from the rest of my spam... ;P

Looks very like a version of the old ULC (of which I'm already a minister!)..

And can I then call you Reverend Pixie?

LOL - I was SO trying to avoid the temptation to make "Forest of Dean" jokes there :D

Reminds me of a Bill Bailey sketch, where he was doing banjo versions of different songs, including "Lady in Red", which he translated to "Cousin in Red".

Bit of a puzzled silence round some parts of the Colston Hall ;)

I think what bothered me the most was the cliche infomercial script to it....

$29.95? Seems a bit steep. I got ordained by the ULC (Universal Life Church) a few years ago for free. To get the certificate costs about ten dollars, and I also got a doctorate in metaphysics at the same time. So I am now Rev Craig Cripps MsD. Mwahahahaha, fear my titles!

(Actually, as an ordained minister I'm also able to ordain others, so I could do you for free if you like. Although the certificate wouldn't look quite as professional.)

Heheh - OK, sounds good. I'm not too bothered about the certificate, so if you just knock it up in word, that'll be fine :)

Actually if you go to http://www.ulc.org and click on Instant Ordination you can get one in a couple of minutes and either print off the ordination certificate or pay $4.95 (plus whatever transatlantic postage is) to get a paper one. Even the print-off one looks a lot better than anything I'd manage :o)
