Feeling perkier since I got back to Toronto - I think NIagara town depressed me a bit. It's like a big US tide went out and left a big heap of trash behind. And I was homesick for cynical Brits to hate it with me.

Successful finding my way across Toronto, good hostel room and lots of sushi. All good, good, good!

Hehe sorry - Americans are used to that kind of depressing capitalistic tourist crap, I didn't realize how much it must have been affecting you!!

We felt better once on the road too - only so much gambiling and strip mall even those acclimated to it can take :p

No worries - I have to say, I did find it really shocking. We don't have anything even remotely like that in England. And I was hoemsick for some friends to sit around going "wtf!" with, you know? ALl good now though.

Ah, Niagara...

Been a while since I've been there, and I seem to remember a concert on your side of the river with the Barenaked Ladies. Or something.

But yes, all I remember of Niagara was some old grey depressing haunt of a town stuck in the mid-seventies.

But Toronto! Having grown up just outside of NYC, with years in DC and near Atlanta... Toronto's my favorite city on the East-ish side of this landmass.

(sighs)

What was shocking? I wasn't able to figure it out from the bits and pieces of this conversation. :)

I remember a song called Niagra by the Inspiral Carpets, I always used to think they were singing Viagra. I know how crap that sounds - although, maybe it is oddly symbolic in this sense. After a fashion.

All the casinos and entertainments massed up on the side of the Niagara falls. I just found it all a bit incongruous, and we don't have anything quite that extremely commercial over here.

Heheh - there is no "my" side of the river, unfortunately, as I live in the UK. Where the waterfalls aren't nearly so impressive. And hello to you, Klownboi. I didn't get chance to say that yet.
