Oof - I think I ate too much pizza...

Not a hugely eventful day today. Spent most of the day at work alternately programming and faffing around with this parliamentary question that had about a million subsections and was so badly worded it had to be seen to be believed. The bright point in my day was going to have lunch with my auntie :) She is so cool and I love her so much :) Sometimes I notice how many good people there are around me and feel at least a little better about the world.

Also had quite a nostalgic day - the smells and the warmth and the breeze reminded me of sneaky summer holidays in the Black Mountains when I was a kid. My dad would whisk us out of school and we'd go and camp in the family van right up a dirt track that got more rutted and difficult to negotiate every year! He'd make us all jump up and down on top of the rear wheels to give us more traction. And then we'd mostly arse about in the bracken, build huge fires, dam up the rivers and play on the mountainside. So idyllic, and so irrevocably gone. I got quite teary a few times as I laboured over my spreadsheet :)

One other interesting snippet that occured in the past day or two was that I got invited to be a statistics consultant if two of my friends at work ever get around to starting their own consultancy. OK, that's a BIG if, but then being self-employed has always been one of my dreams, so that put a little perk into my step. In fact, many things have been good, as I also got my essay back with a very acceptable mark. And a comment saying that I was quixotic. LOL - I'll take that as a compliment and sign off...
