Jul. 29th, 2003 09:26 pmHmmm. I'm procrastinating the writing of my penultimate OU essay. Hence the update, even though I haven't really got much to say. The essay is actually quite interesting, exploring the place of moral messages in English Language Teaching, but I have the attention span of an amphetamine crazed ant :)
It's been raining a lot today, and I'm worried about my garden. Mostly I'm worried in a good way - everything seems to be springing up at an amazin rate, and I'm sure I've now got twice as much parsley as I had yesterday. But with fecundity comes responsibility, as all the wet foliage of my tomato plants had sagged and need tying up more firmly. I also need to buy a new stake for my birch tree. The vegetable success has, however, prompted me to start planning next year's vegetable patch in the empty bed at the end of the garden.
The downside of the rain is that it's starting to piss me off - when I went to lunch with my friend, I got quite wet, and that added to the feeling of irritability that mounted during the afternoon. The people next to me are full of themselves - they spent the afternoon holding loud, jargon-filled meetings and moving boxes around in a self-important manner. I thought long and hard about it and objectively decided they were being annoying. Feeling validated in my irritation didn't really help the fact that I had to concentrate on some rather tricky SQL though, although I did prevail in the end :)
OK, like I said, not much to say. I'm off to fuel myself with caffeine, to get back on my PC soapbox and to carve more of a chunk out of my essay...
late edit: my amber pendant came today. I'm not usually mad on jewellry, but it is very pretty. Maybe pics later, in my next procrastination break :)
