Hmmm. I'm procrastinating the writing of my penultimate OU essay. Hence the update, even though I haven't really got much to say. The essay is actually quite interesting, exploring the place of moral messages in English Language Teaching, but I have the attention span of an amphetamine crazed ant :)

It's been raining a lot today, and I'm worried about my garden. Mostly I'm worried in a good way - everything seems to be springing up at an amazin rate, and I'm sure I've now got twice as much parsley as I had yesterday. But with fecundity comes responsibility, as all the wet foliage of my tomato plants had sagged and need tying up more firmly. I also need to buy a new stake for my birch tree. The vegetable success has, however, prompted me to start planning next year's vegetable patch in the empty bed at the end of the garden.

The downside of the rain is that it's starting to piss me off - when I went to lunch with my friend, I got quite wet, and that added to the feeling of irritability that mounted during the afternoon. The people next to me are full of themselves - they spent the afternoon holding loud, jargon-filled meetings and moving boxes around in a self-important manner. I thought long and hard about it and objectively decided they were being annoying. Feeling validated in my irritation didn't really help the fact that I had to concentrate on some rather tricky SQL though, although I did prevail in the end :)

OK, like I said, not much to say. I'm off to fuel myself with caffeine, to get back on my PC soapbox and to carve more of a chunk out of my essay...

late edit: my amber pendant came today. I'm not usually mad on jewellry, but it is very pretty. Maybe pics later, in my next procrastination break :)

My garden is really very, very green. It's a bit scary, actually. The rest of the week doesn't look very promising sunwise either.

It is a little scary, isn't it? Quite powerful and overwhelming how suddenly everything gets so big and lush and green. That's a nice weather site, by the way. I've bookmarked it and I'm going to forward it to a friend, who'll love the 15 day graphs!

I like it for the rain risk percentages. I also use BBC's radar for the days when I'm thinking of going out walking.

Most supermarkets employ a weather person. I think somehow they got it wrong since my local Tescos was clearing out tons of hot dog rolls, baps and rolls.

I think the BBQs will be on special offer soon :)

That would be neat - I quite fancied a BBQ, but not at full price. My friend has one of those spiffy gas ones, so I wanted to find a BBQ that as closely as possible resembled an oil-drum for next time he came round :D

B&Q have discounted them near me, they had a tiny one for £6.99.

Neat - there's a B&Q just up the road, and I'm more than happy to have autumnal barbeques :)

Gas ones are cheating anyway, can't beat the charcoal :)

I too think I should get the barby out again when it's dry day. If the food tastes good why not?

Barbecue ?
Griddles are much nicer to cook on, especially if you're a veggie.

Looks very spiffy - I feel some creative ironmongery looming on the horizon :) What are the advantages for veggies? It seems like you can cook a wider variety of stuff as there are less holes for it to fall through.

BTW - someone just wandered past my laptop and admired your axe. Thought I'd share that :)

I like my George Forman health grill, cooks veggies, veggie sausages etc.. wonderful.

I often cook Linda Mcartney sausages on it, but before I do I slit them, loads of fat comes out. They still taste pretty good.

I also like to slice up a courgette and some of last nights boiled potatoes, they cook great. I can't notice any difference between the grilled stuff and fried.

Heheh - I skipped breakfast, and you're making me hungry :) Someone else recommended those Forman grills to me... I've never tried them myself.

Also, Safeway's vegetarian sausages are rather nice. Wrap 'em in a tortilla with onions and mustard... mmm. Ok, I'm going to stop salivating and make myself a cuppa :)

I can't eat many sausages as I don't do dairy. Linda's are the few I've seen that I can eat other than the ones at Holland and Barratt.

Argos have the classic baby george for £15 at the moment. Worth a try at that price, I have this one too and it's just about big enough for one person.

I'm not sure whether the Safeway ones are vegan-friendly. Probably not - I only tend to avoid dairy by general choice, but I'll check the packet next time :) Might pay a visit to Argos - like most other chains where I live, it's just up the road :P

Most of them have egg in them, likewise with the burgers. So we always buy the spicy bean burgers and the veggie burgers from Holland and Barratt, y'know the very slim ones.

I'm getting rather good at cooking again, mastered making tofu tasty anyway :)

Anyone that can make tofu tasty is a good cook ;)

It was bound to rain today, every other tuesday I sign on at the jobcentre. Every time I say "right, I'll cycle there" and it always seems to rain.

My experience in the UK last summer was quite refreshing after living in an area where we average 350 sunny days a year. ;)

France (in the riveria anyway) has had around 150-160 days without rain, some idiots decided to light a fire and it's resulted in quite a bit of destruction.

*rolls eyes*

I guess that's at least marginally better than chucking a fag butt out the window and taking out a forest. If only because there's more chance of them taking themselves out of the gene pool, along with the burned stuff.

So when do we get to see pictures of this infamous garden, and more importantly, when do we get to chow down on Cybermule Tomatoes & Parsley, Unlimited, products?

Heheh - somebody else asked that. I'll post some up soon, when it stops raining enough to actually see the garden.

when do we get to chow down on Cybermule Tomatoes & Parsley, Unlimited, products?

I'd mail you some, but I think your customs are kind of uptight about importing produce. I'll either make Parsley and Tomato chutney, or you'll just have to stop by next time you're over here :)
