Some people I've recently added as friends have added me back. Normally I'd take the trouble to thank you personally, and point out that I found your interests and journal entries intriguing. But right now I'm in a bit of a stress, so I apologise for not doing that. I nonetheless appreciate it :)

Despite the stress, I'm very chuffed with the harvest picture I took at Winchcombe on Saturday:

hay bales on the hill

Now I must get around to getting more webspace - I want to upload all my new pics and update my homepage!

Hello there! Thanks for the cyber visit! Visually interesting shot!
I am crawling along trying to figure out this 'web space' and how to use it with live journal. do you need to sign up with a free web site?

Hello :D I get my webspace as part of my cable package from the people who supply me with internet access. You might want to speak with your Internet Service Provider to see if they do that for your account too. Otherwise you could find some free webspace, I'm sure. I've never done that though, so I can't advise - maybe post on your LJ to see if someone else can be more helpful? :)

hello there!

I am using the library's computer lab. Someone said you needed web space to post on LJ>
Did you just post that picture?
hmmm....
Anymore shots of your travels in England? :)

Yes - I have more on my website:

http://www.cybermule.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/photos.htm

This was what I meant in my other comment about getting webspace off my Internet Service Provider (ISP). Please tell me if I'm being patronising, but you did say you were clueless.

I use the internet at home, so I've signed a contract with an ISP that allows me to use their computers to connect to the internet. You need some way of connecting your PC to the internet via another computer - when you use the internet at the library, you're using their computers to connect.

As I pay for home-connection, as a bonus my ISP also gives me space on their computers to put the files that make-up my website. You won't get that off the library, and although you don't need it to make posts to LJ, you would need some space somewhere if you want to post pictures - LJ doesn't give you the space to do that.

As you're not using the net via an ISP, you'll probably need to get yourself some webspace if you want to post up your own pictures. I can't really help much for this, as I've never found webspace that hasn't been supplied with my home connection. I think that you might get some if you sign up for a Yahoo mail account, and there must be other sources of space, but you probably need to shop around and maybe get some advice from someone else :)

I am looking at your photos now!

Thanks for explaining it all. (I thought you copy pictures from your personal website to livejournal, but that is probably wrong? :) )
I saw someone's photo album from yahoo so I will see if I can use that with a free acct. now.

It is funny how much I have learned using the library's comp lab...but owning a computer would gone beyond what I have learned from using different programs and the internet.
of course. :)
back to your photos for my cyber visit!
I hope I have time at my new job to go online!! I got a job at a university here in the psychology dept! Hopefully I can take free classes as a job benefit; but might have to wait until job becomes full time.
I saw the news story about the blackout in London last night. It is strange that it started here and then onto NY--Canada and England....and maybe other cities I forgot. I hope that is the last of the blackouts.

I found this LJ FAQ that might be of some help:

Congratulations on the new job - I hope it works out well for you!

Thank you !
" Any image you wish to add must first be uploaded to a webspace provider that allows remote loading. Please see http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=130 for information on image loading requirements."
The phrase "allows remote loading" is good to look for....
I hope I can use the internet at the new job!
Thanks for the well wishes!
Hope you are having a good weekend. I am off soon to a free concert at the University (Cinema Strange, Anitworld, and The Brides)
Have a good night!

Yeah - that would be an important point. Good luck with sorting that out :)

Hope you enjoyed the concert, too...

Same here with England :)

Will take a while to save $ :)

I had wanted to see pictures of Whitby since I hear about it from friends who go to the festival.
I wonder what the area looks like at the festival.

Well, I was there just before the festival and there were little groups of Goths dotted around, here and there. If you ask on the Veg_goths list, I'm sure someone there might have some pictures of the actual festival, or know where some are.

thanks! I am trying to get all my posting done at work now. I don't have a laptop at home.

I should try and see if I can view my photos on one of these programs and investigate yahoo photo album.

then you can see NY or CA...
If you could go to the states (oh my..I forgot if you have been to USA....)
what state would you want to visit and why?
:)

Ooo - I'd love to see your photos. Hope you get it working :)

I've been to the USA once - I always wanted to visit CA all my life, and finally did it last September. What parts of CA have you been to? I wanted to go there to see the Mojave desert, mostly, but all of it sounded alluring. I'd like to re-visit SF, and I'd like to go to NY and to Alaska. I think that's it, but right now I've a big yen for Canada :)

How about you - any bits of England you particularly fancy?

;)
Worked in Yosemite Nat'l Park for a summer as well.....
ahh..memories!
Still much to see!
San Francisco!!!
Alaska?
what sights so you want to see in NY?
Why Canada?
Have you been to govegan.net?
those Canadian chicks have the best vegan books out!
London! West End--theater...
more tomorrow!

I think I just wanted to see all the different types of landscape in CA that I would never see in the UK - like I said, I had a big yen for the Mojave. I loved Yosemite too - want to go back there one day, maybe work there, like you :)

How did you like LA? I have to admit, I wasn't too keen. But then I'm not a city-person, and I didn't get to know it at all. Alaska and Canada I want to see for the solitude and wonderful landscapes. Plus, Canada has the bonus of a couple of really neat people living there. Haven't seen govegan.net - I'm catching up on mail after my vacation!
