Today I put all the edging tiles around the back garden - they've been sitting in a box for about 4 years! And the other bit of good news is that there were so many, I'm going to have enough for the front garden. Or maybe a bed in the back garden next year. Hmm. I do fancy a flower bed...

All of my veggie plants are planted out. Still left to do this week:

plant out flower seedlings
wire up other piece of bamboo fencing
wire up wicker screen
plant out Cotinus
rig shade for greenhouse
plant out upstairs seedlings and turn off propagator
pot on climbers.

Clockwise from top left: "orchard corner", overview from my bedroom window, view down path towards end of garden, greenhouse mess, greenhouse with new edging tiles (and potential location for aforementioned new bed).

Heheh :) I'm thinking that other than putting a net over the greenhouse, it should be fairly child friendly. There's plenty of paving to play on...

A little. I'm always a bit manic, though, and there's lots that needs doing. Glad you liked the photos..

The garden looks absolutely lovely :) I am impressed by the greenhouse. Are they common fixtures in England? Thinking back to movies and tv shows (not the greatest type of survey, I know) they seem to be pretty common, but here in Canada I don't think I've ever seen a private residence with a seperate greenhouse.

now you've got me thinking... I can't remember if I've seen any over here either... I'm planning on building a shed/greenhouse combo building so I can start some plants before the May long w/e. (I'm in Calgary!)

I'm in Toronto. The only greenhouses I've seen are fully-heated ones that usually belong to nurseries. 'Sun rooms' seem to be fairly popular though, with a wall of windows on one side that arch partway overtop.

My dad had a kind of shed with a corrugated plastic roof that worked quite well. I don't think it was very draught proof, though. You'd probably only need a little bit of glass in the right spot to make a sun-trap for your seedlings.

yeah I don't think corrugated plastic would stand up to our cold winter temperatures! I do have some glass from 2 shower doors I took out when I moved to my new house that I'm thinking of using instead!

Cybermule's greenhouse
The sort of greenhouse you need for an English winter

Silent Running domes
The sort of greenhouse you would need for a Canadian winter

Thanks - I'm really pleased with the garden, as it was a piece of wasteland when I got it. And the greenhouse was a heap of metal. They're fairly common over here. Not hugely so, but it's not remarkable to have one.

Greenhouses are extremely common in the UK.

I hope that 5 days before I go into labor (not that I'm planning on doing so anytime soon) *I* am out installing new edging as well :) <3 you both and congratulations (more on the baby than the garden, but both look lovely!!!)
