I miss the effortless hair and skin of pregnancy. Although baby puke is doing nothing for the condition of either.

I also wish I had a mum. I'm sure I'm idealising the concept, and I have wonderful friends who'll step in, but I want that 24-hour access to baby advice and emergency Ben's-been-screaming-for-3-hours respite care.

Mmm. I share that idealism. All our rellies are o'er 120 miles away. My parents love their grandchildren but, in general, just don't *do* children and have no desire to help. Simon's mother is genuinely quite nuts and can't be left alone with children - left our niece outside shops, forgot she was with her etc when she was small. His father is lovely as is his step-mum, but they are without any form of discipline - advice rubbish but would always step in and help if they didn't live 4 hours drive away and were heading for late 60s.

They do stop screaming fairly early on. *hugs*
