I got a pattern from a shop - basically it's 4 rows stocking stitch in purple, then two rows plain knit in black. Can send you the full pattern if you ever want it.
Er, those are for a baby? I had a coworker who didn't take it too well when I referred to his future offspring as 'gothlings,' but that totally works here.
