You do need to report it to the police... you might start getting parking fines and speeding tickets and you will need the crime number to get out of paying them....

Tell the Plod. They (or maybe the DVLA) even have an office specifically for dealing with this sort of thing - it's getting almost commonplace.

Apparently people use them for petrol stealing and avoiding congestion charges. To me it's minor inconvenience and extra money I could do with not spending right now.

Yeah - done. Took me a little while to cotton onto what had happened to be honest - someone slipped into the back of me earlier in the year, and I assumed the back one had been damaged and lost. Then I noticed the front one had gone too :(
