Kentish adventure
Jan. 29th, 2008 11:19 pmDesperately trying to sort out my various bits of virtual real estate so I can catch up on three years of backdated photo posting. I have a new webspace, which I've started to build up. Need to clear the old one, though, and everything is in a pickle from being left for years. Arse.
Also on an emotional rollercoaster of a job application. More on that another day. Distracting myself with OTT work generally hides the problem, at least in the short term, so here we go:
I've never been to Kent before, so I was actually pretty excited. The first highpoint for me was an unscheduled stop to RHS Wisely - deeply impressive! I've never been to an RHS garden before, and I'll do a full photo gallery some time soon, but suffice to say I've started to see a point to Surrey. Lovely gardens, and hints that Spring has finally started to stick its nose out:

We then drove aroundthe hellmouththe M25 through Surrey and on to Kent. Kent was far wilder and more attractive than I'd expected. I guess I assumed it was more manicured, kind of like Surrey. Can you tell I'm not a big fan of Surrey? ;) We picked up a very shiny guitar near Ashford, then headed on to our B&B. Iffley Farmhouse deserves a named reference for being such a great B&B - here's the view across the garden at sunset:

Next day, we went to Whitstable. It has a weird sticking out spit of sand with a scary rip tide one side and a placid stretch of sea on the other, plus pretty funky beach huts:

We also visited Canterbury. Bit of a mixed bag - the tastefully positioned Starbucks is a hint at the extortionate entry fee for the cathedral grounds:

However, there was good Mexican food from a stall in the street, and the castle was rather groovy:

Anyhoo, files have nearly finished moving across the ether, and I should go to bed soon. Off I go...
