Sep. 30th, 2003 11:53 amBlech. I've had a good week or so of not feeling too chipper emotionally. At some point I'll probably ruthlessly analyse it all, but there's a lot to be said for taking you away from your family at birth and raising you in an institution.
Had insane dreams about everyone I knew turning into zombies last night. Then, after I had to fight my way out, some scary fundamentalist christians rescued me but tried to make me eat poison cake. I think I've been watching too many disturbing movies :)
In fact, it's been the week of movies since I last posted. "Calendar Girls" is pretty good, "infestation" is lame, "Once upon a time in Mexico" is growing on me in retrospect, and "Mulholland Drive" and "Fight Club" were both excellent. I am now satiated with movies, and have one less excuse to procrastinate more useful things :P
Oh - and I have two days off now. Alton Towers on Thursday, I think!

Date: 2003-10-02 01:27 pm (UTC)lol - should have read your comment properly :) Yeah - I loved that movie. I keep thinking and puzzling about it still. I like the way that it seemed (relatively) straightforward for a while, then slipped into complete weirdness and did a complete U-turn. Might see if I can pick it up cheap on video some time, and watch it a few more times.

Date: 2003-09-30 09:53 am (UTC)this is good because it was a fun movie. i know a lot of people who really didn't like it, have all sorts of critisisms (uggg, is that even spelled correctly?), and who are just generally cranky about the whole thing. i mean, it should be obvious that he wasn't attempting fine art, and he did a great job of making the sort of over the top, ridiculous, just silly movie he was going for. everything doesn't have to be fine art.
and anyway, Johnny Depp was hilarious, and, oh yes, hot!
anyway, i want to hear more about your dreams ^_^

Date: 2003-10-01 11:48 am (UTC)Yeah - the movie was great. Not a piece of "fine art", but still a good movie. I love Johnny Depp in most things (odd - he used to annoy me!). And I really like Westerns, so it was a good choice. Have you ever seen the meesage boards on the movie database? Full of people analysing the heck out of every movie :) What other sort of films do you like?
Dreamscape

Date: 2003-10-02 01:34 pm (UTC)Heheh - OK. But I warn you - that was one of the more logical ones!
Perhaps over a very mundane cup of tea when I next invade the UK
Definitely - I'd be offended if you didn't at least look me up for a cup of our favourite national beverage ;)
the fuzzy purple garden gnomes you have befriended!
Don't joke - I think I'm slithering down the slippery path towards middle-age already. I wish to embrace comfortable clothes, and most things seem fascinating these days. I caught myself avidly reading the backpack reviews in a hiking magazine recently - from there it's just one step to tartan slippers and garden gnomes!
