Even the battle scenes were good, and normally I hate that "poking people with swords" stuff. I think my favourite battling bits were when the Rohirim all charged yelling "death", when Eowyn stabbed Angmar (although that was spoiled by the twonks behind me having a loud chat - first time I've ever cussed someone out in a cinema), and when Gandalf was fighting on the battlements with his sword and staff.
Aragorn was ace, expecially when he went and raised the dead armies. I loved the oliphaunts, and the way it started with Smeagol and Deagol was brilliant. I think my favourite scene was when Pippin was singing to Denethor as Faramir was charging to his death *sniffle*. And they put in the departure to the Grey Havens, at which point tears were openly flooding down my face.
I'm going to watch it again soon, at which point I can probably describe more than an over-excited babble :p Only two bad things - nothing to look forward to next year, and no chance of my ever being valiant in heroic battles :( Talking of which, Eowyn definitely rules. Not Arwen.
late edit: the beacons were very neat too. Dammit - I just have to go and see it again!
In other news, I got some tickets to see Dylan Moran in Warwick in April. Quite a long way away, but never mind. Had a great lunch with my friend yesterday at some posh little restaurant in Clifton. Slept a lot. Can't wait until Christmas comes and I get some time off. And the days only get longer from here on.
