Jan. 30th, 2004 10:51 amWell, I'm obviously back from holiday. Have been so for a few days, but was determined to keep 'net activity to a minimum while I spring-cleaned bits of my house that had got crappy. And now I'm back at work. Joy.
Well, my holiday was rather cool. I've been there countless times before, but always have a good time. Friday night I went to see ROTK at Barnstaple cinema, which I can't recommend too highly - very comfy seats, reasonable prices, an intermission, and none of those cramped seats 10 inches from the screen that just scream "cash makers" at you. The evening was rendered far more civilised by a decent tea at Razor Bill's (*groan*) near to the cinema. It was only cafe-style food, but the best damn vege-dog and chips I've ever had. And only £5 a head - after the poncy over-priced restaurants of Bristol, this was a refreshing change.
Saturday was spent walking the North Devon Coastpath, from Berrynarbour cross-country to Combe Martin, back along the coast to Ilfracombe, then back to Berrynarbour. Fine bright windy weather, and many photo-opportunities. Also prompted the first of several new resolutions: (1) more walking! I'm never so happy as when I'm hiking - no stress, no depression, nice stretchy exercised feelings. Oh - and I'm going to (2)eat better food too :) (*ahem*)
Sunday was spent playing with the log-burner, reading, eating curry and walking around Lynton. Home on Monday.
So yeah - spent the rest of my vacation reading and decluttering my house. Various stuff has been dumped there by other people, and I've accumulated some rubbish of my own, so one of my other resolutions is to have a good clearout! (along with more reading/study, more meditation, less to do with my mother). Did some gardening - some of my pots of bulbs have started to peep out above the earth - within about two hours of my putting them out in the front garden, some sod had chucked an empty fag packet in one :( Came back to work - very boring, but I found out my promotion had been finalised while I was on holiday!! Hopefully that will be reflected in this month's pay, but if not, I'm still pretty chuffed :D
