Meh. Best update before another week nearly disappears. Brief, brief update of a rollercoaster week. Went on a course to teach me influencing and persuasion skills. Mostly so that I can help with the pay negotiations this year, but it still was a damn fine course that made me think. There were some curry and beer shennanigans with a mate from work too. Oh, and I swam a kilometre non-stop at the pool in London :D

In short, the moral of that couple of days was never swim 1km after only eating a sandwich, and certainly never follow that with strong beer :)

Ehm. *looks momentarily shifty*

Friday was spent catching up at work. Ate sushi at least once a day every day this week :)

Saturday was spent doing crappy family stuff, with partying in the evening. The family stuff was, as I said before, crappy. The party was good though :)

Sunday was a grown-up day, with people invited around for lunch. Very grown-up, very enjoyable. Any space left over was devoted to playing Final Fantasy, and wishing I was getting more sleep...

I meet a lot of "vegetarians" over here. Not the quotes. They still eat fish, and some will even eat chicken. Makes no sense to me as I cannot see how fish or chicken would count as a vegetable, fruit, grain, etc...

I'm definitely proud to be an omnivore, but I admire people who can stick to any sort of controlled diet (as being a vegetarian is) for any length of time.

At least anyone but Atkins fiends. That's just not right. I fully support burning every book on the Atkins diet and striking all knowledge of it from the record of existence. That diet has put the lives of a couple of friends in danger at a couple different points in time.

Yeah - I'm quite proud of being vegetarian. or at least, proper vegetarian, where I don't eat animals to survive. I'm slowly taking that to a greater extreme, with fair trade stuff and fairly minimal consumption. But then I'm not evangelical - let others do what they want. Can't understand it myself, but it's your own right. Except calling yourself a veggy and eating meat - that just sets bad expectations and pisses me off.

Personally I never saw why we shouldn't eat meat (except those who view it as cruelty to animals. I can understand that even though I don't agree). Of course I'm a loon who thinks plants have just as much spirit as animals, so if killing and harvesting animals for food is wrong, it would be wrong to do it to plants as well.

The world works by one species feeding off another. Our bodies are built to handle eating herbivors (not so much carvinores, specifically the livers of carnivors can be especially bad).

Overall, its a person's choice. As long as they are happy with it, more power to them. Just don't try and convert anyone (heh, that goes for religious types too). You're allowed to explain your views, but don't push them.

*nods* You have your views, I have mine. I don't happen to agree that plants are as spirited as animals, but I nonetheless have a healthy respect for plant life too. Like I said, I'm just working towards making as little environmental impact as I can.
