Jul. 9th, 2003 03:35 pmPub food was rather good last night - goat's cheese and beef tomato salad. The added bonus was that I got off my lazy behind and cycled somewhere,so one step along the road to the fitter me that I keep imagining. The village of Engine Common turned out to be nothing like the town of Machine in the film Dead Man, which was somewhat disillusioning. Lots of twee little bungalows with paddocks and ponies, but made up for it with a very good pub :)
Went to visit my grandad today, and had to screech to a halt on the A46 to let half a dozen peacocks cross the road. Grandad fed me large amounts of walnut cake and we had a good talk, then I trundled home and picked up some shopping. I now have two hours before I go and pick Steph up from work, so I should dig out all the links I need for a promised website. I really have procrastinated that project beyond all belief :)

LOL - very cool :) All the Americans I know tell me how bad they think the food is over here. Coming from a country that spawned Taco Bell, I think that's a bit cheeky :) And they are all endlessly amused that I was impressed with Denny's. Pubs are usually fairly reliable over here - they've evolved a great deal. Our service is slower, but then the over-attentive American service freaked me out a bit... Anyway, glad you found somewhere local to enjoy our unique culture ;)
