Big green men. With Lances! And lutes!
Jul. 26th, 2003 09:38 pmOr at least, that's what I'll be dreaming about tonight :) Went to eat Mexican and watch The Hulk last night. It was a good film, although a bit long, and I loved the cinematography and watching the hulk trash helicopters :) Spent the rest of the evening pretending to be the hulk, naturally, and carried this new occupation over to the medieval festival today.
Graaaagh! Hulk! Beserkers! Arrows! Cannons! Squelch! Splash!
Made a last minute decision to actually go to Joust, and unsurprisingly that then caused it to pour with rain :) Didn't really spoil the fun though, once I'd adjusted to the idea that I was going to get very wet and muddy. Arrived just after lunch in time to watch the falconery practice and cannons display, then spent an agreeable hour or so trudging through the mud to look at the little craft and tat stalls. Almost bought another small gargoyle due to being impressed at the honesty of the stall's "here be bollox" sign, and found the smell of the medicine man's "frankincense" a little suspicious :D Watched a siege re-enactment that almost persuaded me to join one of those societies to dress up in daft costumes and hit each other with fake swords... definitely a possible plan. And finished up with watching the Mediaeval Baebes, who were rather good.
Got absolutely drenched - I'm still drying my hair - but had a great time. I'll post some pics at some point, and hopefully next year it won't be raining and I'll be more organised :P I fully intend to spend the rest of the weekend slacking before trundling off to London for my final talk. Note the emphasis on finality there - yay!
