All for charidee...
Sep. 29th, 2005 06:06 pmThis week, I decided to take up my local council's "swim the channel" challenge. Basically, you swim the equivalent of the English Channel (32500 metres) in your local pool in your own time, log the results, then you get certificates and t-shirts and stuff.
I was mainly going to do it for the fitness, to be honest, so I set a target of the end of the year.
But then I was talking to a friend who did it last year, who suggested that I got sponsorship for charity. As the end of the year is pretty much Christmas, that made me think that I'd like to split any money I raised between Shelter and the Samaritans, both of whom have extra demand on their services in the festive season.
So with a target date of 15th December, and including this week, I'll have to swim the distance in 12 weeks. ABout 2700 metres a week.
If anyone would like to sponsor me, leave a comment and we can sort it out.
