Someone at work just sent an email to the wrong people, probably to about 150 of them. It was no big deal, except that everyone's now mailing him to tell him he must have sent it to the wrong mail-group.

(a) poor git
(b) so glad we employ mainly graduates. Graduate entry test question 1...

When someone sends you a non-confidential email as part of a large email group, obviously in error, do you:
(a) Ignore it and delete
(b) Send a constructive answer if you have one, but only to him, and taking the opportunity to quietly point out his error
(c) mail him telling him nothing constructive except he posted to the wrong person
(d) mail everyone on the group telling them nothing constructive except he posted to the wrong person

So hands up who thinks answers (c) and (d) should result in a P45 and/or instant death?

I HATE THAT!

I got on an email list for the local community college district when I looked into some classes last year. When registration time came up they sent an email out. I ignored it. Someone responded back TO THE LIST ADDRESS, asking what should have been confidential questions thinking it was a counseler address (even though it clearly said it was a mailing list). So naturally that message got sent to probably hundreds of people on the list. Who then replied to the list explaining to the person they were not who they must have meant to contact. Who then started replying to those messages....

I finally had to send a message telling people it was a stupid list address and if you sent an email to it, it would send it to EVERYBODY on the list.

People are twits.

Arr - they sure are. I just get annoyed because everyone here wibbles on about how IT-proficient and highly skilled they are. When they're really a bunch of numbskulls. What's more, a good chunk are paid more than me to be substantially more stupid and incompetent.

*scowl*

I get equally irked when someone unwittingly sends out a scam email to an entire list of people including me. While I'll usually email back the person (it was my mum last week) who sent the mail explaining that it's a scam after having found it on Snopes and provide them with the link, there's always a few people who feel it their duty to email the entire list declaring IT'S A SCAM!!! As if they're the only person to have realised, which means of course they have to share this knowledge with everybody else... **Nyyurrgh!!**

Talking of embarassing work related cock-ups, my boss nearly got fired this week for sending a computer game review to print in his magazine with the price listed as 'Fuck knows!' Oooops! :'D

Everyone thinks that they're THE WHIZZ when it comes to the net, don't they? And really it's as much as most of them can cope with not to hit "reply to all" when they want to slag someone off. Kudos to your boss though :)

*puts up her hand* Although, a slow death is preferable.

Quick, slow... as long as it's painful and humiliating, I don't care :P
