safe as houses

I left my front door open last night. I must have left it on the latch, then it blew open in the night, cos it was wide open in the morning.

But everything in my house was fine. I like living here, it feels safe.

I remember those days.... We'd fall asleep with windows without screens wide open or rarely both shutting our doors and no one would bother us...

Now people break into my truck and I'm nervous if the door isn't LOCKED when I go to sleep...

I miss feeling safe sometimes...

Strangely, I've never felt that safe - even though I've lived in areas that really are quite remote! You're lucky to live in such a safe area :)
