Finally...
Sep. 4th, 2006 11:48 amI entered the 10k I've been bibbling on about - the Cancer Research UK 10k at Weston Park in Staffordshire. I'm a bit scared but I reckon I can do it in a reasonable time.

(if anyone wants to sponsor me :))
In other news, the weekend was a bit pants due to family issues and rain.

Date: 2006-09-04 01:00 pm (UTC)Yes that's fine babe, but come when you like, kids are dropped at school by 9am so I'm free and on my lonesome after then...obviously don't get up at the crack of dawn or anything, but don't think you'll be disturbing me if you come earlier that 11.30 :)

Date: 2006-09-04 01:45 pm (UTC)Please do.
I was reading about what to eat when you run, and it seemed really hard for veggies
Do you mean eating whilst running, or generally with meals etc as a runner? I've had no problems with either, mind!
On the runs - Dextro energy tablets, polos, sharkies (fantastic vegan sports sweets from north America), jelly tots, chocolate.
After long runs I tend to have a milkshake to get a quick protein/carb hit but otherwise I just eat a lot, rather than anything special. Occasionally I take a veggie glucomasine supplement if I have achey joints.
Before running I like toast and honey, porridge, maple/raisin pancakes, stuff like that.

Date: 2006-09-04 01:53 pm (UTC)It's more general diet I was thinking of - I can't afford to eat too much, even when running, and I suspect I'm not getting enough protein. Now I'ev ramped up my training a bit, I'm actually getting a bit achey. And wherever I was reading about diet said that Quorn was low-quality protein, so I was wondering what else was good...
I might go and google glucosamine.

Good luck and enjoy the run, Hannah. I'm settling for a 5k walk now at lunch everyday, something I used to do 3 years back and have now cycled back into my routine. Also be advised that you're not allowed to worry about anything superficial and petty such as "family issues" when there is still a snowball's chance in hell of breaking one's neck due to the slipperiness of "rain". Or something like that.
