One thing that surprised me about having a baby is that several of my neighbours bought him cards and little presents. Teddies and babygrows and the like. I've never lived anywhere and had a feeling of neighbours and community. It's actually very nice.

I'm going to start my compost bin tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it works when it's placed on concrete. I'm not convinced, but then I can't really think where I'd put it otherwise. I'll have a think about it overnight. Been a nice chilled day, where I got lots of niggling things done.

I think you're very smart to be getting out of the house every day and doing things...I'm sure it will help a lot towards getting used to being a family of 3 and getting back to feeling 'normal.' Sounds like the neighbors are helping too! Good luck with the compost :)

Thanks - part of me thinks I should just be staring at Ben, but I think we need to get out and about more.

hippy and I reckon composter on concrete is doable but will be slower.

Its not going to get its worms easily, you might have to add some yourself I guess.

I thought it would probably be slower. Luckily, I found a bit of concrete where there's a small strip of earth too. There are already woodlice getting in, so this should help.

I agree with the person above, the compost bin on concrete should work, but it would be better if you add some worms. I've actually seen 'countertop' composters for apartments.

One of those would be rather cool :) I found some concrete with a bit of earth behind it.
