Aargh!

Came into work after a day off to find 250 emails in my inbox. About 10 were "real" emails, and one was a mail from a client sending an file that we asked for. Then about 240 mails were from the sys-admin, telling me that my mailbox was oversized. And each one of those 240 mails incremented the size by 1k, due to the last mail.

That really is insane.

Sounds like an automatic mailing gone wrong. It wouldn't surprise me if it was triggered every time your inbox got bigger but they forgot to not let it be triggered by the auto mailing itself. :-)

I tend to agree with [livejournal.com profile] apel, but were the overlimit notices spaced at equal time intervals?

Yup - every 15 minutes, regular as clockwork. I mentioned it to my IT department, and they gave me a bigger mailbox. Which I guess is a solution of sorts!

One time I went back to work for the same company a year after I left it, only to see that my email address was never deleted and it had hundreds of spams and hundreds of messages stating "You have surpassed your quota blahblah", for a total of well over 1000 messages to clean up. "Welcome back!" :P
