Uhhhh . . . . Google's giving that only one possible meaning. I can think of two maybes, one of which I have no strong feelings on, and the other which I dislike.
I just enjoyed my first ever go with a pistol (or indeed any sort of firearm). I'm even more sure that they shouldn't be widespread, but they do make good sport. Re your last post - if you mail me your real-life address, I have a few gender neutral bits and bobs that it would be great to pass on to an appreciative home.
I'll send a message with the address, from houseofleah.com (my cat's domain) and let me know if you can think of any American things you want. Nothing good, mind you, more like inappropriately patriotic candy, or something equally tacky. We're all about the cheese over here, and I'm trying to think of something that's better in the US than Canada or the UK.
I like guns. I'm not entirely proud of that, but I really enjoy being able to control something that powerful, and not being afraid of something that's not generally associated with women. Glocks are sort of square, light, and more painful than some other guns. If you get the chance, just about any .22 is fun, and has next to no recoil. I have a cowboy-style revolver, and a rifle that use it, and both are good for targets, but not really the sort of thing you'd want to hold up a store with, which makes me feel a bit less creepy. I don't hunt, either. They ARE very common here, and that's not something you could really reverse, so I'd rather know how they work.
I'm in Arizona, so other than full-auto, I can pretty well own what I like. And with the right government approval, I could have a fully automatic weapon, which is always important when living in a suburb. That said, I've ended up with four .22s, and one 9mm. Husband has a .45, which is a lot of fun, and was his law-enforcement service pistol. I'm so intrigued by black powder, and so afraid of getting more into this hobby.
How do the laws work in the UK, anyway? Here it varies state to state, and this is one of the most permissive ones. Some of what we have is actually illegal in California, mostly for capacity.
Yeah _ I got the impression that they didn't see a lot of ladies at that shooting range. The guy seemed really surprised that I wanted a go (I was over-adrenalined by my brother's turn, so just wanted to learn to load and shoot). Then I feel I got my own back by shooting the target straight through the heart first time. They weren't expecting that.
