On Sunday I ran 3 miles and felt very pleased with myself. It was slow running, but it was running nonetheless, and the first running I've done for about a year. Go me :)

I also burned my hand baking bread. This sucks. Especially as I spent all of Monday delving into wet compost, making the whole thing pretty ouchy by close of play. Now I have a colloidal plaster slowly filling with gunk. Not convinced by the whole colloidal thing, but we'll see what happens. Has to be better than the sore hole that there was before.

I also found out that you can now by special thickened "good night" formula for babies. I've read about giving them thicker formula to keep them asleep longer - it comes from the same school of thought as dosing them with Kalpol for the same effect - but it seems that the silliness is now officially sanctioned. I would say that I was pretty chilled about Ben waking up during the night, as nobody ever heard of a 10 year old that didn't sleep through, but I'd be a poor case example having regularly indulged in 2 am insomnia even as a small child.

Sold several hundred pounds worth of plants yesterday, so must be doing something right in my job.

Certainly sounds like it, go you! :)

Is that what they're calling it? **le sigh**
I guess they've had to meet the demand. It's no secret that many a parent thickens the formula by adding more scoops than required to the water, or thicken with baby rice which has always been frowned on because of the pressure it places on the kidneys. At least by coming out with a product, it stop peoples potentially doing their babies harm AND (more importantly!) makes some formula producer and the government even more money! :/

Go you on the running! 3 miles is brilliant! :D

Thx - didn't think I had it in me. It was only on a treadmill, but with a bit of practice, it gives me a hope in hell of keeping up with you :)

Nah hun...I'm pretty sure you're twice as fit as me with all the exercise and running around you do!

Wish I had space for a small treadmill. I could use it as part of this graded exercise nonsense...think I'd find that more manageable (as an exercise to build on) than jogging outside over variable terrain.

Honey is the best thing for burns, so try that next time. Actually, if it's an open wound, smear a bit on now, and use a sock over the bandage to keep from making things sticky. No idea if the silver helps, but I had big silver bandages I loved, maybe because they were the only ones I could get in that size. I had a lot of skin removed from my ankle by a dog's tie-down (but kept the dog away from my grandmother, which was all I wanted), and the bandages that are meant to keep the wound moist were complete crap.

A lot of formula marketing scares me, and I can only assume that sort of thing's worse in the US. It's like we can take anything, and add extra saturated fat and child labor to it.

I don't think they're allowed to market too heavily here, but you still get pestered at every available subtle opportunity, for sure.

What they don't tell you is that as well as breast is best, breast is also a damn sight more quick and convenient. But some people hate the idea, and although I think that's a bit odd, I guess it's just fair enough.

May try the honey - I'm not a fan of sticking plaster.

Well they worked for me, even if I had to knit my own from a squirt bottle of the stuff and a plain bandage.

I know who to call if I ever damage myself in a major way some distance from a pharmacy. Apparently if you drink too much of that stuff, it turns you greyish-blue :)

Apparently they're good, says 0ct0pus who often burns himself.

High five on the running! I just signed up for the Race for the cure here... started the workouts today. Must be something in the air :) And congrats for doing a good job on the job - that always feels great!

I've never run that far in a single stretch, so I'm chuffed to bits. Also just as pleased with the job - I have a novel feeling of confidence in my own abilities at work.
