lol - I did mean to but I got distracted. It's a "Shpongle" CD (http://www.shpongle.com/) - [livejournal.com profile] unsane1 recommended them a while back, and I downloaded a few songs and really liked them. So I saw a new compilation of theirs cheap and decided to splash out.

WHAT! You like Shpongle! Cooooool. Which CD is it?

eep - didn't I mention that before? I'm sure I did :/ Anyway, yes I do and thanks for the tip. It was their new "remixes" CD (do a search on play.com for shpongle - it's not one of those bookmarkable pages). I was going to get "are you shpongled", but it was more $ + I just think I want this one :)

Nice, I haven't even heard that cd myself. Is it really good?

Bah - haven't even got it yet. Ironically, I was just thinking this morning how cool the post service was, and how I supported their right to strike, when the postman stuffed some junk mail and a "you're not in so I couldn't deliver your parcel" letter through the door and scampered off before I could get reasonably dressed and chase after him.

Sorry - needed to get that off my chest :p I'll let you know how it is when it arrives - I'm quite happy to do you a copy or something.

rotfl :D I kind of miss the days of making those little tape compilations for your friends...

Unfortunately, everywhere other than Canada seems to have a size limit on file transfer through YM. But I can dump either the CD image (if you have a CD burner) or the constituent MP3s on my webspace.

hah yes that's true. I suppose it can still be done, on CD, but what with access to thousands of mp3s it seems kinda moot.

bah in that case IRC or something should be fine.

I have a CD burner but I haven't used audio cd's in several years. :P mp3cd player only, and even that I haven't used since i converted to the darkside (laptop). :)

There ya go:

http://cybermule.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/shpongle/index.htm

Let me know if the links don't work. Also let me know if some of them are a bit crap - I had to rip them at quite low quality to fit them in my webspace, but I'll redo them if you particularly like any of them :)

From: [identity profile] unsane1.livejournal.com
I'm pretty confident that I will love all of them. :)

64kbps gah! hehe. Had I known I'd a told you to ship me 'em thru IRC. No worries tho, it's surprisingly very listenable even at this quality.

gracias, grazie, dankenshun, merci, etc.

No problem. Next time I see you around online, I'll send the good quality ones to you via IRC. I thought I'd deleted them, but they're still around...

I got 'em all, you can delete them if/when you need the space.

Cheers. I keep meaning to put that neat Zelda tune on there for you. Then I had the plan of trying to snag the entire video clip (it works better with the video). Now all I need to do is try to trim it down below 100 MB ;)

Ah yes! Well tell you what, just tell me the name of the clip or song and I'll find it easy, no worries.

Unless you already have it done, then you can ship it to me next time we meet on yahoo or irc.

Meh - couldn't find the entire version. Not sure where I downloaded it from. Here's clip though:

It's very good!

Brings back memories...

The Zelda games on N64 (along with mario) were the first games to really be immersive enough for me to get really into to the level I want (VR-style), almost like a vivid enough fantasy world. I've not played the Gamecube one, but since it's more cartooney I doubt it would have the same effect on me.

From: [identity profile] cybermule.livejournal.com
Yeah - these were the first games that I got really wrapped up in, other than the Myst trilogy. Since then, I've found the Silent Hill ones quite immersive too. The cartooney style isn't too bad - you get to see more expressions and eye-movements and things - but I don't think it's quite as immersive as the more 3D style.

*sighs* I want to be Link and play in Zelda-land. I remember the moment when I finally grew up and realised that I was never going to learn magic or fly or enter one of the lands inside my books. Very disillusioning.

Heh I think they ended up not going with the cartooney style I thought they did... It looks a lot more normal polygon-ish than previews I saw way back. The previews I'd seen looked more pastel than the cel-shaded that it is/became.

I just searched for some images of what I'm talking about and I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined all this, and that in fact the original previews were cel-shaded as well, and I just found it too weird back then but got used to it...

Ah, but you can! In fact, I just had such a dream last night. It was an almost identical replica of the fight with the big boss Poe in Ocarina of Time. Too cool! It kinda morphed after that, the floor was giant balloons that I had fun jumping on and bouncing really high. :)

*nods* I get that sometimes. very annoying - you could have just sworn it was green, now it's mysteriously black...

*droool* I loved poes. And the guy in the hut by the castle door, that used to be a bored guard, but then turns into a tripped out poe salesman :D

I'm jealous of your dreams :(

That's quite funny. I finally backed up my journal in a consistent fashion, so I might go back and read through it at some point. If I had more time (heh - the usual complaint), I'd do that with a lot more. It often takes me a while to chew something over, then I can't find the post you made that started the thought off, you know?

Yeah I know exactly what you mean.

Generally I don't reply to something until I've chewed on it for a while. Which is why it sometimes takes me a couple weeks to answer things. Of course the downside to that is an eternally large inbox (62 right now). The problem is that the oldest ones in my box are the most complex, and so it's hard to ever completely finish all of them.

If the subject matter is simple I'll usually reply ASAP.

Yikes - and there I was panicking at my inbox post-vacation. Guess I'm being too J-ish ;) I mostly trash them after a couple of months, and trust they'll resurface if the subject was important...

Heh I definitely don't risk that. I do that with trivial subjects, but not stuff that I'm interested in.

Trust in the power of synchronicity... you know you want to... don't resist...

*wiggles fingers hypnotically*

Seriously though, I tend to just recycle the important ones into posts of my own.
