Went to see American Splendor at the Watershed - check it out on IMDB first, but I'd recommend it. Have also gone a small way towards mending my rotting bathroom floor. My brother's GF gave me her old mobile phone. I'm not sure what to do with it really - it's sitting on my kitchen cabinet in a vaguely useless sort of way - but it does mean that people can text me via LJ when (heh - if) I set it up and don't just give it to the next person who wants a phone.

Ummm. OK. Post ended.

Heh. I have a cellphone somewhere that I actually, after cancelling it the first time, re-activated 2 other times, for various reasons. I guess I needed to realize multiple times that I'm not a phone person and that a mobile phone only meant that I'd be ignoring calls in various places :)

Sometimes lessons take a while to sink in, I guess :)

Heheh - I've decided that I'll probably just leave mine in the car until something better occurs to me. I just felt bad that if I didn't have it, it would just get thrown away.

Rotting floors suck!

A few years ago the floor in my house suffered a bad case of rot. The floor under the sink collapsed. Then the floor under the fridge started breaking (it sank about 6 inches) so we moved it across the room just to watch that part of the floor collaps over a 6 month period. It took us a while to come up with the money to get someone to come in and fix it (my family having a tendency to not have the tools to do anything that needs to be done). Now we have a nice cement floor covered in tile and don't have to worry about it collapsing!

I agree on the phone thing. I had ex's phone for a few months when she was in OH (she didn't get a signal where she was anyway, so figured might as well use her minutes in some manner). I carried it around and all that and only used it to talk to her. Hated carrying it. Was just a pain mostly.

Then again I used to be a telemarketer so I hate phones in general...

telemarketing - yuck! You're far braver than I am. I'm not sure how I even ended up with this phone as I have mild phone-phobia.

And luckily I looked under the carpet and got the rot before I fell through the bathroom floor :p It's all fixed now.

Luckily, it was quite that bad, so I managed to degunk it fairly well myself. Do you actually do that sort of carpentry, or were you joking?

And what the hell is that new icon ??

Meh - I scanned it from a book of motifs that I bought up near Hadrian's wall. There are renaissance, anglo-saxon doodles and stuff, all public domain. That one was from the "byzantine" section, but having read the blurb, I noticed it was a symbol for Christian evangelism, so I might use that a bit less from now on :p
