My mum's going to take her new flat - she'll be moving in about 2-4 weeks, depending on how it all pans out. It's quite a neat flat. It'll need some redecorating and a few bits and pieces, but there's a garden, the neighbours seem nice, and most importantly (to my mum, anyway) there's a general store (that sells vodka :p) right across the road.

I'm exhausted - still have evil flu bug, and alternating between jitters and exhaustion, or maybe I'm just losing the plot...

...There was something else, but I forgot :p

If vodka is not readily at hand, then perhaps you can convince [livejournal.com profile] fyatuk's Ainanna to walk on your back and relax you. :)

Speaking from experience, thats not very relaxing. She hasn't quite got that accupuncture technique down. Need to make her watch more instructional videos....

No - cat massage is rather akin to torture.

Heh - the vodka was mainly for my mom, who likes to keep the blood in her alcohol-stream at a minimum. Although it is one of the very few drinks I'm partial to in any way. I have my own cat, and little scratches all up my legs to prove it, so there's no need for Fyatuk to pack his cat in a box and reduce it to an uncertainty. Unless he feels like it, of course. Who knows? He seems a fairly random sort of guy...

Hey now! If I feel like reducing my feline friend to an uncertainty, I just put her underneath a laundry basket, put some weight on top (currently an old unworking computer) and toss a blanket over the entire contraption.

At that point she only exists when she makes noise, and since she hates noise that ain't very often.

And I don't get scratches on my legs, but I do have a bunch of mysterious scars all over my hands and wrists...

I suspect that's your own fault for mercilessly teasing your cat :p On the other hand, my klutz-induced scarification isn't my own fault at all ;)

Just to be on the safe side, that was directed at the 'losing the plot' part, not the fact that you feel like shit. ;P

Always good to clarify. Definitely no good making a woman go all crazy because you phrased something badly. *shudders at the thought*

Indeed. In fact, I still don't think I made myself perfectly clear. LOL

I was laughing cause I thought the part about "losing the plot" was a little inserted humour on her part (which it in fact might not be, actually), but it could be easily thought I was laughing at the fact that she may be losing the plot. Waaah I'm starting to lose the plot now. :P

Heh. Any reply to that is TOO obvious to make. And yeah, it was a little humour. Can't whine too long without a little self-conscious, self-directed jibe :p

And how many sorts are there in general?

*rolls eyes*

What sort of cranky female are you then?

I'm never cranky at all - I'm completely perfect :p Actually, I suffer from random crankiness, the main symptom of which is hiding away in a corner. Mostly it can be traced back to not having enough alone time, and it only gets ugly if I'm provoked.

And how many sorts are there in general?

*shrugs* menstrual cranky, bad hair day cranky, random cranky, misunderstanding cranky... do I need to list any more, 'cos I don't actually know that many women very well.

Hrmmm. Wasn't expecting any answers there. Now my joke is much les funny since you actually answered. That's no fair! MEANEY MEANEY MEANEY!

OK I'm over it.

PS: can definitely agree with the lack of alone time leading to crankiness. Sometimes people need to shut the hell up and drop off the face of the earth.

Aww - I'm sorry :( I just get some of my humour out of being disingenuously over-earnest, but it does work better in real-life :) 'twas a good joke, anyway.

Sometimes people need to shut the hell up and drop off the face of the earth.

*grins* exactly!

So accomodating you folks are...

I try to oblige only to learn that the earth is round, round I say, further to say that there is no face of which to fall off. So I end up forever travelling in circles around this faceless madhouse. I expected better of both of you since you're the ones who are supposed to have that mystical quality called "class". ;)

The world does have a face!

From: [identity profile] fyatuk.livejournal.com
last time I took geometry (admittedly about 10 years ago) even sphere's had faces! Of course its kinda hard to fall off of that, but as my friends like to tell me I am ruler and master of the world, so the least people could do is go out of their way to figure out how!

And I'm supposed to have "class"? Don't you remember, I dropped out of school, including all my classes!

Hey - what can I say? Fyatuk and I were having one of those "introvert" moments. Although how that technically works when there are two of you extolling the virtues of introversion, nobody knows!

You know, from here the earth does look distinctly flat, bar the Cotswold and Mendip hills. Are you sure about this "roundness" - I've heard rumours that the Earth is a sphere, but to be honest, the only witnesses seem to be total space cadets! And where on earth did you pick up the idea that I had class? Britain is a classless society now, don't you know?!

If you want to see flat, you really need to visit Texas at about Fort Stockton or so. Pretty much not even a bump in the ground for 300 miles in each direction, very few trees, just grass and oil derricks...

Yikes! I'd feel weird - I gre up in very hilly country, even small flat areas like Cambridge or East Anglia seem a little strange to me. 300 miles... yikes!

I'm a nice smooth mule, thank you, but I have to admit to a little tail-related grouchiness. Anyone with a fine mule tail like mine would get cranky if they had to sit on an office chair programming all day!

I don't think I said it before, so congratulations on your work paying off and you finding a better place for your mom. Sounds like a big improvement over where she was living before.

there's a general store (that sells vodka :p) right across the road.

Ah, you have alcohol in regular stores there? Here it's basically only special gov't stores that sell it.

Its like that several places in the US (like Ohio). Most places though you can buy beer and wine anywhere, but anything over 15% Alcohol by Volume (aka 30 proof) you have to buy from stores with special licenses.

Really a pain because those places open late and close early which makes it hard to get to them sometimes.

Date: 2004-01-07 07:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cybermule.livejournal.com
I'm not sure what proof we go up to, but I know that all stores sell up to the legal limit. Bit of a pain really that it's so easy to get hold of - fun if you want to party, annoying if you want to get someone to cut down on the booze.

From: [identity profile] cybermule.livejournal.com
Thanks - I'm very pleased, and I'm looking forward to the long-term stress reduction.

Stores sell all sorts of alcohol here. I'm not sure how strong we go up to, but certainly strong spirits like Finnish vodka. I think absinthe is banned though, unless it's quite weak :)

Date: 2004-01-07 11:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] toxicpixie.livejournal.com
Not any more :)

You can buy the 55% wusses Absinthe most anywhere, and most offlicenses seem to have abottle or two of the decent stuff around (the 75%-85% stuff..).

I believe it's only the versions that still contain wyrmwood that are banned...
