This is the sort of decision I'm crap at - too many options, and it doesn't really matter, so I'm not sure if I'm making a big deal about nothing. I've applied for an English Lit course with the OU, and I was kind of hoping I could get the same tutor as I had for the course last year. I sort of gained the immpression that it was easy to switch tutors if you didn't get the one you want, but having received a different tutor, I find it's not so easy to change. So basically I've got three options:

  1. Write to the head of faculty and try to persuade them to switch me. This would mean I might get exactly what I want, but I'm not sure if it's worth the very un-British fuss.
  2. Just go with the new tutor. I know I think I want the old tutor, but it probably doesn't make that much difference. Maybe it would be a good thing?
  3. Defer the course until next year and do a shorter course this year on something unrelated. This has a variety of advantages in that I won't have over-burdened myself with courses, I'll be able to get ahead with the course reading for next year, and I can probably say right from the start that I want a specific tutor. I'd have to check out whether this is actually possible - I haven't got my student handbook with me.

Hmmm. Boggle. Gibber. One of those is standing out as a good option, I guess. Input, anybody? I won't just do what you say, but an objective opinion is always good :P

Anyhow, some good things of the day. There's a neat tree on the way into work, near one of the UWE car-parks. It looks like an oak. Not sure which sort - twisted cessile branches, straight penduncular trunk. Whatever, it's a cool looking tree. Just for once I packed myself a decent lunch last night, and today I'm grateful for that. And last night I had really cool dreams - I dreamed that I was holidaying in this cool rendered 3D landscape. Not doing much, just wandering around chilling and enjoying the scenery. Occasionally I got to wander into the landscape of one of my photos, but super colourful, like at one point I was trampolining on my big blue ripple.

Anyhoo - have to run to a meeting...

I'd probably go with door number two.

Hey you're stealing my dreams! ;) Now I'm jealous, cool dreams.

hehe

Couple days ago I played Zelda for real, just before going to sleep. It crashed on me and I lost everything I had done and was pissed (the whole snowhead "fortress" in Majora's Mask). As I was going to sleep I was recounting in my mind the shortest way to re-do everything now that I knew all the tricks I'd forgotten from years ago.

Well all of that caused another cool dream, unsurprisingly. =) This time it was more ambiguous though. I didn't log it so it's a little fuzzy now, but I do recall that basically everything around me was in a very dense fog and it was nighttime. Every once in a while a jewel of some sort would glitter very brightly out in the distance. The atmosphere was neat!

Heehee - sounds very neat. I should get back to playing more computer games (?!), I got better dreams then...

Thanks :) In the long term, I'm going to do that. In the short term, I'm going to free up a bit of spare time, before I stop enjoying myself and get back to box-checking robot mentality.

*nods* Between the amount of unscheduled time I need, and the amount of alone time I need, there aren't many hours left in the day ;D

*nods* I think we both know who I mean *winks obviously* One side of the room got really noisy all the time - it's pissing me off cos I'm really busy at the moment. Oh well - that's life :p

Lovely ripple pic!!

Thanks - I'm pretty chuffed with that one, and it was a wicked dream. hope I get a similar one tonight...

I say option #2, but that's because my mutti always taught me that you don't always get what you want (in fact you rarely do) so just deal with comes up and get to where you want to be. Of course she neglected to mention to me that there are some things worth fighting for which has gotten me into all sorts of trouble and turned me into an apathetic loon...

It looks like an oak.

Couldn't tell you. Oaks are the most common trees in this area, followed quickly by Pecan, and Cedar/Juniper, but damned if I can recognize any of them.. Well, you can tell a cedar by the bark, then look for nuts, and if neither of them match its fairly safe to assume its an oak in this part of Texas.

I had really cool dreams

That sounds like a fun dream. Unfortunately my dreams last night were all reruns, and brought back some things I'd rather have forgotten.

Well as you know, I went for 3, but thanks for the advice - in the long run, I'll definitely take it. I'm pretty feisty, but this wasn't the issue to fight for. It was kind of masking the need to ease up on myself, as I can be a bit of an over-achiever at times.

Sorry about your dreams :(
