>conundrum
Jan. 20th, 2004 10:08 amThis is the sort of decision I'm crap at - too many options, and it doesn't really matter, so I'm not sure if I'm making a big deal about nothing. I've applied for an English Lit course with the OU, and I was kind of hoping I could get the same tutor as I had for the course last year. I sort of gained the immpression that it was easy to switch tutors if you didn't get the one you want, but having received a different tutor, I find it's not so easy to change. So basically I've got three options:
Hmmm. Boggle. Gibber. One of those is standing out as a good option, I guess. Input, anybody? I won't just do what you say, but an objective opinion is always good :P
Anyhow, some good things of the day. There's a neat tree on the way into work, near one of the UWE car-parks. It looks like an oak. Not sure which sort - twisted cessile branches, straight penduncular trunk. Whatever, it's a cool looking tree. Just for once I packed myself a decent lunch last night, and today I'm grateful for that. And last night I had really cool dreams - I dreamed that I was holidaying in this cool rendered 3D landscape. Not doing much, just wandering around chilling and enjoying the scenery. Occasionally I got to wander into the landscape of one of my photos, but super colourful, like at one point I was trampolining on my big blue ripple.
Anyhoo - have to run to a meeting...
- Write to the head of faculty and try to persuade them to switch me. This would mean I might get exactly what I want, but I'm not sure if it's worth the very un-British fuss.
- Just go with the new tutor. I know I think I want the old tutor, but it probably doesn't make that much difference. Maybe it would be a good thing?
- Defer the course until next year and do a shorter course this year on something unrelated. This has a variety of advantages in that I won't have over-burdened myself with courses, I'll be able to get ahead with the course reading for next year, and I can probably say right from the start that I want a specific tutor. I'd have to check out whether this is actually possible - I haven't got my student handbook with me.

Date: 2004-01-20 12:50 pm (UTC)Thanks :) In the long term, I'm going to do that. In the short term, I'm going to free up a bit of spare time, before I stop enjoying myself and get back to box-checking robot mentality.
