I wasn't sure what to make of some of the questions, especially the various "tenets of belief". For example, I think we should respect nature, but I don't think it forms part of a "belief" as such. And I have strong opinions on a lot of the ethical issues, without thinking that other people should necessarily have to share them.

As for the breakdown of non-theistic belief systems (http://www.selectsmart.com/FREE/select.php?client=atheistphilo - iffy in mozilla!):

  • My #1 result for the SelectSmart.com selector, Nontheistic philosophies/religions, is Ethical Culture

    #2 Transhumanism
    #3 Scientific Pantheism
    #4 Unitarian Universalism
    #5 Agnostic Church
    #6 Rationalism
    #7 Secular Humanism
    #8 Pantheism
    #9 Deism
    #10 Atheistic Paganism

Interesting results! Quite similar to mine. You seem to be slightly more humanistic, pantheistic, and agnostic, whereas I am less so, and more atheistic.

Yeah same here, which is why my real result was the first one (both non-theist and secular humanism at 100%). On that one I chose not applicable for all the ethical questions.

Then, to see which religion my personal ethics most closely resembles (for fun), I also answered all the ethical questions, which was my second result (secular humanism at 100%).

    iffy in mozilla!

Hehe yah Moz 1.4 crashed on me there. Whatever caused the problem was fixed in any case as Moz 1.6 loads it just fine. So does Mozilla Firebird.

Heheh - like the subject line says, I'm a bit of a hippy at heart :)

whereas I am less so, and more atheistic

Mmm. That makes sense - you're a bit less fluffy and emotional (for want of better words :P) than I am. But like you said, other than that we're pretty similar, especially when you answered all the ethical questions. I was too quizzed-out to try alternatives :)

Doesn't work with Moz-Firebird on Linux, but I probably need to update :(
