Got my hair cut on Saturday morning, as it seems to have been growing ridiculously fast. I could barely see out of it, so I had a huge chunk cut off. I'll probably stick with this hairdresser, as they've cut my hair twice without my actually hating it straight away.

Had about two hours to kill in Bristol before my OU tutorial, so investigated two shops - MasterShoe is an excellent source of DM boots, and H&M is good for the sort of plain cotton separates that I tend to favour. I'd been looking for plain fitted t-shirts for months. Hate shopping, so anything that streamlines the process is a huge success.

OU tutorial was somewhat dull. There's always one person that grinds on my nerves in these settings, and it's always for the same reason: they're one of those people that has to pass a slightly negative judgement on pretty much everything.

To make up for the lack of liveliness, and the impending doom (see below), I allowed a copy of FF X-2 to "fall" into my shopping basket when I went to Safeway, and spent the evening curled up playing that. When it started, I must admit that I though it was terrible - all girly and annoying, but it's grown on me. So much, in fact, that I spent most of Sunday playing it too :)

Well, most of Sunday that wasn't impending doom - had to visit my mother and sort more of her stuff out. She's being really childish about it all, but I maintained my serenity throughout the visit (depsite having to re-hygienify her flat) and didn't even get depressed. As mentioned above, S and I played FF all day, and I got tea cooked for me - mushroom and quorn pie and veg... nyum!

Monday I got to sleep in. Went to my english class in the afternoon, and nearly got my eardrum perforated by the noisy cow next to me. She is SO damn rude! Always interrupting, always correcting people (wrong herself most of the time!). Bah. Someone shoot me if I end up like that. Wandered around the "Making Faces" exhibition at the gallery and museum, munched muffins and tea, then headed to Las Iguanas (or something like that: http://www.iguanas.co.uk) for dinner with M, L and S.

Seriously busy week ahead - I have an assignment to do for the OU, plus other reading and stuff. I experimented with getting up and into work an hour earlier, so I'll have more time in the evening to do that damn essay. It was hard getting up at 6:30 though - the cat was all warm and snuggly and purring, but hopefully it will be done before the weekend.

Yeah - I was in about quarter to eight. Been regretting it all day, right up until 3 o'clock when I realised I could go home in an hour. Don't think I'll be making a habit of it though - I'm not really an early bird.

heh, I woke up at 6:30 today and thought that was downright late! I remember the days when I though 10 am was early... Oh how Ilong for those days...

I used to get in at 8.30 on the nose every day for a year and a half, now I scrape in at 9am somehow I manage to get an extra hour in bed...now how does that work? :D

BTW Las Iguanas brings back some memories, I used to love going there when I was in my early 20s - there used to be a cocktail bar downstairs with djs - it was before I discovered clubbing properly and I loved the vibe! I went there a couple of years ago tho and had an awful meal..never went back since....how was the food?! Did you feel like you were in a franchised place?!

I'm hopelessly addicted to FF X-2 as well. All the high fiving and girly dialogue at the beginning, plus the whole opening sequence with the cheesy pop song left me expecting the game to suck. But it grew on me and now I can't stop playing the damned thing for the life of me!

I've never played any of the Final Fantasies, but it seems they're more addictive than crack and sex combined could ever hope to be, judging by some of the reactions I've seen. ;)

To shuttenher up!

Have you thought about bringing a device that sucks in all the sound waves in a particular room. She could then talk until she's blue in the face and still no one would ever hear her. You could work on in peace a happy mule!

Yeah - I used to sleep all day on Saturday. Now I never get a lie in beyond about 7:30. Think I'm getting sleep deprivation...

now how does that work? :D

Heheh - the Bristol traffic system works in mysterious ways...

how was the food?! Did you feel like you were in a franchised place?!

The food was quite good - I was a bit thrown by the slightly poncy arrangement, but it was nice and spicey and tasty. It didn't seem like a franchised one, but then I'm used to that Mexican by the cinema at Cribbs, which definitely is a chain-restaurant. All in all, it was pretty good :)

Yeah - exactly what happened to me. So does the garment grid system become more significant? At the moment, I'm just picking random grids and stuffing them with spheres...

Mmm. I went around the time-counter on FF8 *looks embarrassed*

Hmm. Or just putting a thick (airtight?!? I'm easy on that) sack over her head. Probably marginally more mature than sticking my finger in my nearside ear every time she opens her mouth. I just think she dominates the sessions too much. And she interrupts the tutor. She's just kind of rude.

I normally go in to work about 6:45 myself, but it doesn't change the fundamental wrongness of that fact!

Later, some of the garment grids give you extra abilites when you change from one sphere to the next. Like there's one that gives you the ability to use a fire spell and it gets increasingly powerful as you work your way around the grid. But then again, some accessories give you those abilites, so sometimes working your way around the grid for a spell you can get some other way is just a big pain in the ass.

Aha - OK, thanks. I'm still at an early stage in the game (bloody other commitments - grr!)... I'll see what happens.

The other thing about this game is that it has multiple endings depending on the percentage of missions you complete before finishing it entirely. And it's nearly impossible to get 100% of the missions completed unless you have a strategy guide. If you do that, you get some super special ending or something.

Meh - now I want the guide. I've been working on using really small grids so that I can turn on their special spheres.

I have the guide. I already finished the game once, with about 51% of it finished and I was confused as to where the other 49% was hiding. But now that I have the guide, I'm a FF-X2 addict all over again.
