I was having an ace dream about visiting Canada last night. Then the bloody alarm clock turfed me out at 7 am into a very cold morning. Blech. That's two nights that I've had good dreams now (Saturday night I was wandering around a really neat haunted house with Nick Cave :D), and two mornings that I've had to get up too early. And my knee hurts...

Whine... whine... whine...

At least it isn't raining - it's bright and sunny, and on the way to work this morning, I passed a playing field that looked like a lake, with the sun reflecting off the sea of frosty mist.

The weekend was unexceptional. Except for two pieces of good news (!) - I will shortly be given £1000 (!!), and my mother has 111 points for her housing application. Which is very respectable, and means that she actually has the vaguest chance of being housed. Go me and my excellent form filling abilities :)

I think I need some coffee...

Do you have government owned housing over there? We have it here, and it's managed by local councils. Unfortunately (and I'm avoiding the rants as to why), there isn't enough to meet demand any more, so you get allocated points based on how deserving you are in the opinion of the council. The more points you get, the higher you are in the waiting list.

Hmm I don't think we do, at least I've never heard about such a thing. Sounds useful though.

So basically it's housing owned by the government that they rent out at lower rates, or what?

Yeah - that's exactly it :) Plus, as well as cheap housing, it includes specialised housing for vulnerable groups, shared ownership and so on.
