This is quite a rambling book divided into chapters which are each based on a forest in the UK where the author had taken a walk. It was interesting to just read about the different forests, whether I'd been there or not, and there's the odd photo too.
Each chapter is divided into a section with some folkloric rambling rather than some literal rambling, and some description and history of the forest in question. Then there's one of those exciting modern re-workings of a fairy tale. You can probably tell which one I preferred from the phrasing. I'm ok with modern fairytale versions but mostly just Angela Carter.
Interesting engaging book. May buy it myself. Definitely on the list of "possible presents for people I like". Which is my new measure of quality given how little shelf space I have at the moment and how much respect I have for my friends.
