I'm bored. Really and truly don't feel like doing anything. Which means that more than likely I'll end up getting boxed and watching TV *grumble*
Oh - and either me or my mother are going to have to be locked up in the near future. One of us is going to have to have some enforced sanity. Don't really mind if it's me, long as they let me have a net connection :P

Took me a day or two to think about this one...
Date: 2003-09-20 02:39 am (UTC)I went through a phase of not drinking "on principle", but these days I do drink whenever I feel like it. I just don't feel like it very often - I don't know if that is conscious (TBH, I find being drunk a bit dull) or sub-conscious (I'm avoiding it because of my parents). I also get bored of most drugs if I have them for a long time - that level of stimulation just becomes normal and not interesting any more.
I guess I also lump it together with heroin and crack as the three drugs that are likely to make people boring and/or assholes, and generally leave them alone for that reason. I'm not saying that every alholic or addict pisses me off, just that those three drugs seem to have a good chance of making life a bit thoughtless and dull. I don't choose friends by whether they drink or use certain drugs, but I do tend to avoid people who regularly become unpleasant when intoxicated.
What are your thoughts on the subject, anyway? Are there psychotropic lines that you won't cross?

Date: 2003-09-25 12:11 am (UTC)My current blacklist covers many substances, but all entries are subject to change in the future. I don't like to overdo it with alcohol, cause it just seems unhealthy. But I do like to have a few beers once in a while.
I'm very disinterested in any substances that have blatant bad side-effects, or that are physically addictive. Everything from Heroin/Opium, Crack/Cocaine, Amphetamines, Absinthe, drink/hangover, Tobacco, Caffeine, GHB, Ecstasy, DXM, Ketamine, Datura...
Looking at what does interest me, it seems I'm almost exclusively interested in psychedelics. It's interesting that none of them seem to have any side-effects or addictive qualities. Perhaps I am projecting qualities onto them because they are what interest me? Dunno...
A lot of substances just don't attract me whatsoever. I have no interest in the effects provided by stimulants like speed or coke. I have no desire to feel good 24/7, and just be numb, like with opium or being a pothead. I don't need to be relieved from depression with a dose of ecstasy. I guess I just go for what suits my needs. Which is probly what everyone does. I only hope that I've lucked out and enjoy things that don't come with any negatives, rather than imagining they don't have any such problems.

Date: 2003-10-12 12:39 am (UTC)heh, i've never even been offered about 2/3 of that blacklist. ;) but i could have had easy access to all but heroin and ketamine at certain times had i wanted any of them. dxm is probly the easiest, it's in cough medicine. nasty side-effects and permanent damage tho, iirc.
i've read up on most of them tho, out of curiosity to know if anything sounded good, to see what ppl addicted to certain ones are facing, why they are doing it, etc. also resulted in me not being the type of person who doesn't know the difference between acid and crack, which is all too common.

Even some of the "neutral" effects don't look so great. And I certainly don't want more isolation *shudder*
