LATE EDIT TO AVOID POSTAHOLISM - someone lent me their Eddie Izzard "Sexie" DVD *yay-bounce*... extremely funny androgynous men - it just doesn't get better than that 8D

Heheh - there's a huge pool on the university campus, next to the path which I use to walk from the train station to work. Normally there's just a tiny culvert-type thing, but with all the recent rain, it's backed up and made quite a decent size pool :)

I started taking St John's Wort again - maybe it's just a placebo, but without it, I seemed to descend into a spiral of crankiness and bad psychological habits. I'll try again on the emotional reprogramming, then give up the herbal happy pills. Much better plan... *nods firmly*

Good plan! :)

Yeah, I've currently been looking at what I can do to maybe give myself a boost. Placebo or not (and I rarely care so long as it works) Rescue Remedy (Bach's original flower remedies) is taking the edge off things, and I'm planning to start back on the zinc again, some St.Johns Wort might not be a bad idea too :)

Ooo - my aunt says St Johns Wort is really cheap at BigW, and I just got some reasonably priced stuff from ASDA. Just so you know, cos it's dead pricey from Boots!

And yeah - it's the actual "working" part that counts :)

I walk from Sainsburys to get to university, sometimes walk down this country lane in
Harry Stoke to get to University (just past the Axa building).

I know that lane - I used to walk from Parkway, and that was a lovely alternative to the main road! Now I just come from Filton station and walk past HP and across the campus.

He's distinctly cute. And don't worry - I've only borrowed it off one of my colleagues, so if I don't like it, it's not a huge disappointment :)

Giving me flashbacks back to high school. Any time we got a decent rainfall, we'd end up with the entire front of the school under 6-8 inches of water. Definitely not the funnest thing in the world, especially when you have to wade into the center of it (it was about 150 ft. diameter) to raise the flags in the cold december mornings... Would stick around for a week too...

I agree with you on the St. John's Wort thing. Haven't tried it myself, by I do take ginseng, and even though no one I know has had any benefit from it, it seems to help me, so what do I care.

Exactly - I used to get quite uptight and scientific about stuff like that, but now I'm more of the opinion that life's a bit crap, so whatever harmless stuff you need to do to get you through is fine by me.

Hmmm... doesn't ginseng make you all hyper and energetic? I though I read somewhere that it did that, in which case one of my friends would probably confiscate it quite briskly. They can't confiscate the pretty coffee though, oh no! Mwahaha....

It's supposed to improve available energy, something to do with increasing the oxygen content in you blood or something like that. Me it helps me to a normal energy level, and for some reason I get sick less when I take it.

Like I said, most people i know who tried it reported no benefits at all...

I like St. John's Wort tea. It makes me feel much less grouchy and less prone to huge mood swings. And much more able to deal with determining what makes me so damned irritable without it.

You know - that's exactly how I feel about it! I just feel that I deal with life better when I'm taking the tablets. Recently I've become so bitter and bad-tempered and cranky with life... it's not me, and I hate it in myself. I won't take pharmaceutical anti-depressants, and as I said above, I'd like to reprogram my brain to be happy on its own, but unti then I think I'll be sticking with the tablets :)

Yeah. I took the prescription anti-depressants for a while and hated how robotic I felt. I'd rather be cranky and bitter and occasionally sad rather than feel nothing at all. And they have so many unpleasant side effects, too.
I've been trying to learn how to be less unhappy and angry at everything, so I understand what you're going through. Good luck!

Thank you - I really appreciated that reply :) Sometimes it's very easy to feel a bit hopeless, like you'er the only person who gets depressed or cranky. And the bitter angriness is something I particularly hate in myself :(( I think you totally hit the nail on the head - I'd rather have the extremes (including the lows), than be all muffled up emotionally. As for the anti-depressants - well, I watched my dad take every which kind of happy-tablet for 30 years, and I barely saw him happy. So I'd rather just take my own chances :)
